friday fan drop most of the first team and play reserves and youths and ask them to play with passion, then get the dropped squad members to purchase tickets to the next home game out of their own pocket and hand them out to the crowd

Well that's what last night was for mate the reserves and youths- arguably they played with LESS passion than the 1st team

McCarthy

Cummings
Mills
Gorkss
Pearce

Robson-Kanu
Kebe
Legs
Karacan

Manset
Hunt

Ian Royal You'd drop Pearce and not Khumalo? He didn't look like a footballer yesterday, let a alone a championship player!

I didnt go last night, but based on Saturdays game I would put him in instead of Pearce.

Why on earth would you drop the club captain?

Pearce
Harte
Kebe
Leigertwood
Karacan
McAnuff
Hunt

Finch I'd like to see Messi and Iniesta play.

I've heard they're lifelong Reading fans and Madejski can afford them.

Trouble is who are you going to drop in order to shoehorn them in

Ian Royal McCarthy
Cummings, Pearce, Gorkss, Mills
Kebe, Karacan, Leigertwood, McAnuff
Manset, HRK

Federici, Harte(Griffin if fit), Howard, Hunt, Obita

I'm giving McAnuff another chance because I don't agree with a lot of the criticism he gets and he's our captain, although he was bollox last night, but then no worse than the majority and a lot better than some. Would just as happily see Hunt in for him and HRK out on the wing.

Oh, and if Harte plays another half dozen games in a row without drastic improvement, the crowd should just get on the pitch and and beat him to death so McDermott has to drop him

Ian we may disagree on some things but regarding Harte I agree fully and have felt like that since the day he arrived whereas quite a few posters have not looked beyond the free-kicks and penalties.
The worst left-back we have had since Paul Bodin IMHO.

I'd be surprised if it's anything other than this. Khumalo can't play after last night.

Quite like that line-up, but with Pearce in for Bongy. But whoever plays, I hope they've practiced penalties and sorted out who's going to take them.

What the hell is it with people picking Khumalo over Pearce!?

I'd rather play Frimmers.

Row Z Royal A 4-3-3 set up would stoke things up for everyone, with a midfield of Karacan, Leigertwood and MacAnuff. HRK and Kebe would do the wide work as usual, both cutting in to support Hunt, who is more than capable of holding the ball to await support or flicking on for the willing runners. Manset is obviously an option, but he's not going to chase anything.

I'd be inclined to stick with Khumalo and Pearce at CB. Morrison doesn't sound any better (you could argue that he's worth a punt, I suppose, but I wouldn't). And I'd stick with Harte - he's due to get out of this tricky spell any time now.

And I think Cummings needs to be blooded properly now. He should be given the opportunity to stake a claim for the RB slot while Griffin's not 100%.

That is a good one! Let's strip the midfield and expose the defence at a time when it is already under pressure. Great plan I must say. I suggest it is more likely that he either sticks with the tried and trusted 442 or, possibly goes to 451 to lock up the defence a bit more.

However, where we do agree is that I think he will stick with Khumalo and possibly bring in Gorkss to play alongside him. Not that Pearce has been notably bad, I just sense that Khumalo is not as bad as he is being made out by some people here (he was caught out of position for the first goal on Saturday but otherwise looked a good player who is settling in to a new style in a new team). The issue for me is that the Pearce /Khumalo partnership is not gelling well. I rather suspect that the older head on Gorkss will be required to put some balance back in the defence. I also concur that Cummings is the man for now and that he should be brought in if fit. The LH side is another issue and I think I'd be tempted to leave Harte for one more game with Mills available on the bench if he is beaten for pace again. I can see Mills elbowing Harte out fairly soon and then we will definitely need the steady head of an experienced CB (Gorkss) to hold the line with so much youth around him.

I feel ever more hopeful that the corner is there to be turned and that we are getting there.

This but maybe Morrison in for Khumalo (and Kebe and Jobi swapped over)

Swap Kebe and Jobi over and keep Khumalo in.

Technically, if he was dead, would he have been dropped?

He has kept his place playing like somebody half dead so I guess it would be about 50/50 him starting if he were actually dead.

Fair comment
In that case he could be dead and available for selection so non-selection would count as being dropped

I think in those circumstances he might struggle to get back in the team.

Surely then his "Dead" ball skills would be more valuable.
