Right, I'm sticking my balls on the line to say Simon Church will come good this season.

He was awful like the rest of them on Tuesday (and last season) but with a space opening up with the departure of Long, I think he can fill at least part of it. We're clearly not going to sign another striker.

We've seen before he has goals in him and good ones at that, along with a few questionable ones. If he can get a foothold in the team, I think, given the whole course of the season, the faith placed in him would be rewarded.

I'm pretty tired of people failing to see the difference between the statements "Simon Church is gash" and "Simon Church is playing gash" and condemning a player to the shitheap despite having seen he is capable.

Might come back to haunt me but that's how it goes. SIMON CHURCH WILL SCORE AT LEAST 10 GOALS AND 15 GOALS IF HE GETS A DECENT RUN IN THE TEAM.

Z175 Snowball wannabe.

Minus the statistics, which leaves err...erm...

This however is based on the far more sound science of blind faith and hope.

Griff isn't quick but he does work well with Kebe and gets forward effectively. Unfortunately he's been below par and looked unfit / carrying an injury this season.

Mills in for Harte and Gorkss in for Khumalo should make a big difference and fort us up at the back a lot.

Manset, Hunt & HRK will all get goals this season, I'd expect 10 as a minimum from all of them if they can get in 30+ games. Church is the unknown, if he has a good season playing regularly he could get 18, a bad one and he could get 5.

We've got time to give those three (and Church) time to settle in. We didn't have time to wait for Khumalo to settle in as we've been giving goals away left right and centre.

Still certain Hunt will score >15 goals this season Ian?

If he plays the vast majority of games, so about 40, then yes, I expect him to get 15+

Provided we play 4-4-2 all season I see no reason why Hunt, Manset and Church should not average 10 each.

If HRK also weighs in with 10 (as compared to the 5 he had last time) then that would be 40 - not far off the 42 that the strikers and HRK scored last season.

I don't think goals are the main problem. It was Long's industry and strength that will mainly be missed. West Brom fans are loving that about him already.
