Never good news but when it involves a player who has yet to make an impact and has IMHO gone backwards this season, it really doesn't look good at all.

Unless Sheppard is expected to be heavily involved from the get go this must increase the chances of some extra fire power coming in.

And, frankly, if Mansett, a year after he signed, is still deemed short of match fitness, it rather begs the question why he isn't tea-total.

Not necessarily goodbye, unless Brian takes a serious stance on this. Will be interesting to see what he does on this side of man management.

Idiot. But how to handle it all depends on the context. Is it likely he does it a fair bit is generally irresponsible and was just caught this time. Or was it one stupid mistake in an otherwise fairly well behaved player?

One would suggest get rid and the other would suggest support him through it and make sure he learns from the mistake. He's still potentially got plenty to give RFC. This is the second player in 6 / 7 years at RFC. Perhaps some extra attention to drinking habits and driving laws needs to be paid to our players by management. This does affect the club afterall.

Knowing Manset he probably just tripped over a bar stool, landed in a couple of pints and drank them by accident.

mr_number Possibly the final straw? With the arrival of Sheppard, Manset's general inability to get fit, and this which may be symptomatic of a poor attitude, I'm not that sure we'll see him a load more times...

Couldn't be less bothered either.

No, that would be Churchy, who would claim a goal just in case

It is bad. Still, at least there are far worse clubs out there. TBH there are single players out there with far worse track records over the last 10 years than all of our playing staff in that time combined have. John Terry for example.

40 grand Merc! For someone who sits on the bench and gets pissed every week. I remember Martin Hicks played 500 games and was rewarded with a Lada.

rfc2001 You have to be an idiot to even have a drop of alcohol when driving!!

I'm sure the 50% of our 16,000 that drive home from each match totally agree with you and are right to join in the outrage.

Overweight, puffing, stupid stunt.

Should have been concentrating on a life-style and fitness level that is meant to go with being a footballer at this level not behaving and playing like someone from the pub team.

Another one to add to the growing list of cheap buys (and yes, I know a few expensive players have proved to be as bad) that haven't worked out.

Madejski and McDermott should make sure he spends all his spare time, when he's not undergoing extra training to get fit, doing community work. Perhaps he can start in a morgue where he will begin to understand the potential consequences of his idiotic behaviour!

At least Kitson was bright enough to refuse both tests!
