Can't remember first win but one of my earlier games im sure was a 2-0 defeat to northampton. Couple of really lovely poachers goals from jamie forrester who stood in triumph gesturing towards the reading fans when he scored. Not a great day.

Also remember the 4-0 thumping from bristol city...scott murray scored and ran in front of us gesturing.

coming to think of it everyone likes gesturing at Reading fans when they score :x , also remember stuart barlow sticking his fingers up at us after scoring away at tranmere when we came back to draw 2-2.

Barry Town 1 Reading 2.

Didn't see the second goal going in as we were literally battered out of the ground 10 minutes before the end,

Newport 0 Reading 2 - RECORD BREAKERS!

Great day out. Managed to push myself to the front with a stool as only terrace I knew which sloped the opposite way. I think that was County's record attendance.

Newbies!!

Crystal Palace 10 March 1962.We won 4-3 and finished with 10 men since injured players were not substituted.Selhurst Park in those days had a grass mound inside the stadium that people could sit on and peanut sellers sold bags of unshelled peanuts. Although there was no clear segregation of away fans, I was not aware of many other Reading fans being there.

Can't remember whether it was 1-1 or a Reading win - but away to the Baggies when Linden Jones smashed one in at the Smethwick End (it was still terraced then, the same old beautiful sh*t-hole it had been for years).

First away Reading goal I ever saw. (I'd been to a a string of away games then where we'd drawn more blanks than a post-operative prostate removal patient with ongoing erectile problems so this was quite a landmark.)

Circa 1986 or -7 (-ish) I guess.

Don't know for sure. We were mightily pissed.

May 1983 Oxford Utd 1 Reading 2
With the threat of the merger, a lot of abuse was aimed at Maxwell and Waller, and a Kerry Dixon penalty won it for us, after someone had ran onto the pitch and booted the ball off the spot in front of a packed Manor Ground.

wolsey I started watching away games in the early 70's at a point when we seemed to only win two or three away games a season.

The first away win I can remember was a 2 - 0 win at Fratton Park when Gary Peters scored despite having a serious leg/foot injury, and only stayed on because we had used our one sub.

Sure I must have seen one before that though.

I was at that one mate. August '76 - a heroic effort by Gary.

I also remember a 2-0 win at Swindon, Pat Earles scoring the second, and a 5-1 win at Oxford in the Carling Cup or whatever it was called then. I can't remember exactly which years they were.

Leyton Orient 1-2 Reading

92/93 (?)

Orient had been on a really long unbeaten home record and our away from was patchy at best. Old away terrace at Brisbane Road, rusty old turnstiles that barely worked, ropey old burgers and tea and 90 minutes wondering what piece of equipment it was on top of the floodlight in the far corner.

I'm sure Dillon and Parkinson scored

The 3-1 Tranmere playoff win in 95, great day...my first ever away game was the loss at WBA that season when Gilkes got sent off, not so good!

Cannot really recall but it would have been in the 4th Division late 1970`s probably away at Hartlepool, Crewe or York. York prolly being favourite, think it was 1-0 to the Biscuitmen.
Remember seeing wins at all three early days when travelling up and down the country by coach.
(I even remember the (Smiths?)coach stopping to pick up 'Blackie' somewhere in the Midlands once) Be interesting to see his first away win.

Been going to Aldersh*t, Oxford and Swindon for years. could even have been one of them. I remember Northampton away in the cup (Old ground) one evening, but I think that may have been a draw.

Basically my brains shot. Fair play to anyone who can remember games from nearly 40 years ago.

A 2-1 win at Coventry 27/03/2004. Remember it being a bit of a smash and grab win mainly due to Sidwell(?) being sent off in the 1st half. A wins a win!

Plymouth, we were battered for most of the game, Deano scored a fluke and Gary Westwood saved a penalty in injury time.
2nd game of that winning run :D

1-0 win at Bristol City, 1989/1990 ish, can't remember the year exactly or anything about it really, as was only 6 at the time.

Next awayer as a fully fledged fan was the aforementioned 2-1 win at Ashton Gate in 1995, Lovell and Nogs with the goals, 5,000 in the away end.

First away game FA Cup 1976 (must have been 1st or 2nd round) away at Wycombe Wanderers at Loakes "almighty slope!" Park. They were non-league. Big crowd. Freezing cold. Beat them 2-1. Went 2-0 up and then got battered (as did our support IIRC) and were v lucky to hold on. Friday got them both?

Second was ironically away to Wealdstone in the Cup the next year. They did us 2-1 (?). Haven't a clue about anything else that day.
