They play in the second tier of their football league, as do we at time of writing.

Has anybody been to both Elm Park and Cappielow Park and can vouch for their similarities?

We should definitely somehow get the Clubs to a friendly one day.

I have. Cappielow park, as I remember, is pretty similar. It's a bit bigger and the ends are more symmetrical. But the similarities don't end there - there is a stench of old burgers and piss too.

That's it. Next home game I'm going to bring a Thermos flask of piss and throw that and fried onions around Y26 to give us a bit of a retro feel.

Exeter City has an Elm Park vibe, in spite of two relatively modern stands!
Greenock Morton

They even play in blue & white hoops.
As a teenager I lived in Greenock and supported Morton, before living in Reading for 30 odd years. I visited Cappielow Park (that's the name of their ground) for a cup game a few years ago when I was working in Scotland, and was amazed at how the ground was like a mini version of Elm park.

When I was a kid there was no segregation (and no crowd trouble). When I last visited there was chicken wire to keep the visiting supporters away from the home fans. For the evening game against Clydebank there were two away fans. Probably less than 1,000 home fans. Back in my day they were in division one playing against the Old Firm, and had crowds of around 10,000, but there are too many teams close to Glasgow to allow decent crowds outside the top division.

Emmer Green Royal- cheers.

I didn't realise in my curiosity to find the closest surviving similar ground to Elm Park I'd learn we effectively have a brother team in Scotland.

I think this calls for a HNA trip to a Greenock Morton game.

According to Wikipedia there have been some "improvements" to Cappielow Park recently.

A new stand at one end with bench seating, and plastic bucket seats plonked on the terracing down the side. Tragic.

Elm Park's record attendance was over 33,000. No comparison with any of these others.

Either that or we wait until next seasons fixtures come out and arrange a date when we are not beating Liverpool. A coach trip and overnight stay would be a laugh, I am certain that if our "twin club" were informed prior to the trip a hospitable welcome would be assured. I know a qualified coach driver who would be up for doing it at cost price then it is just B&B ticket cost and beer money. It would be one to remember.
