winchester_royal I was actually very impressed with Afobe considering it's his first competitive game in 10 months, he's 19, and he's only had one day's worth of training with his new team mates. He showed more than enough to suggest he can play a big part in the run-in.

Anyway, thought Jem was absolutely superb today.

weybridgewanderer was great to be able to watch a saturday 3pm kick off live on the tele for only the 2nd time this season! maybe us v west ham will be the game of the dya next week too, here is hoping!

as for todays game, blckpool are probably one of the better teams in the league and we have beaten them well

Hunt should have done better with the chance in the first minute

Phillips shold have done better with the chance in the last minute of the first half. he scores that its very very different

I can categorically state that no matter how much better Phillips had done, he wasn't going to score a goal at the point and it wasn't going to change the game!

Why? Because the Asst Ref in front of the East Stand had his flag up for offside!

Phenominal work rate from Jobi and Ledge, especially 2nd half.

Gorkss was hopeless 1st half, may"ve been the sun.

Cummings and Harte got forward pretty well and both had good games too.

Tbf I thought the only negative was Afobe, maybe too much hype with all the RvP support. I just thought he struggled to get in to the game.

St Pauli Great work by number 13 in Y26/25 today.

Hope the old man who fell down the stairs is allright.

Anyone know why there was a fight between a load of fans in Y26 at the end?

Oh yeah and there was a football game too which someone won.

Bloke who sits near us ran after a younger guy & punched him. Not exactly sure as to why!

What he said, yeah Afobe didn't turn out to be Messi ( :o ), but to view his performance as a 'negative' is very odd.

Thats in the context of the rest of the teams performance.

My view:

- Jem was awesome today
- Jobi and Harte really stepped up after poor games on tues
- Afobe looked promising - give him a chance

My questions:

- what did that idiot Lawro say on football focus?
- why hasn't BMc been knighted yet?

Any musings why Mullins wasn't in the squad? (Apart from a dire performance at P'Boro.) I would have thought he'd have got the nod over Tabb considering we had no defensive options on the bench whatsoever.

Hopeless and Struggled - 2 words I would never associate with the team or individuals today.

Collectively they were excellent.

Love this club.

McDermott is getting very close to surpassing Coppell in achievements.

McDermott I think has already surpassed Coppell IMO. Mixes up his tactics, does his homework, keeps the fringe players happy etc. Love that man!

Just that we'd started losing a few ( ) and that we didn't have the quality in the squad to finish above Wet Shambles ( )

Shit at Peterborough.
Not fit enough (for us! )
Cummings is better
McD quite correctly gives the nod to contracted players who put it in despite being on the bench most of the time. Tabb.
Mullins will be useful for hanging around the fringes of the team and keeping them all on their toes - and thats all.

delighted with the result. i wasn't expecting it to be as easy as that. bit of a shame west ham got back to 2-2, but a 4 point lead is fantastic. west ham can win their game in hand and we'll still be 2nd heading into saturday's box office smash up at upton park. or even better they can continue to bottle it and we could be going into the game with a chance of going 7 clear, and then we really could be staring promotion in the face!

i was impressed enough with afobe. it's what, his second game back from a long term injury? he looked quick and strong, and has good feet. much much better than church. church incidently got fouled by a blade of grass... he chased hard but otherwise he isn't good enough for a top end championship team imo. his time has passed and he needs to move on in the summer, perhaps dropping a level to get regular games.

cummings got stronger and more confident as the game wore on and then that one smashing tackle in the second half that got the whole east stand on their feet. that was superb. in hard, winning the ball and then breaking forward.

karacan went largely unnoticed but that doesn't mean he had a bad game. he did his job with little fuss and as always was key in midfield; as was leigertwood who has really grown in the last couple of games. both of them will have to be at their absolute best next weekend.

hunt was brilliant again, chasing everything and caused blackpool a lot of problems. mcanuff covered every blade of grass and that was a proper captains performance today.

overall delighted with everyone today.

if pearce or gorkss don't get player of the season then it'll be daylight robbery.

i only saw the old man as he came to a stop, but he was about seats from me when he took off. i hope he's ok? it looked nasty. those steps are bloody horrible, especially for someone frail on their feet.

Yeah he was. The old man was ok. Slight cut to the bridge of his nose and between the eyes. It looked really nasty but thankfully he was not concussed.

Great game, fantastic atmosphere and probably that is the best the support have been this season at home. As the pressure and expectation builds i hope we maintain that backing.
I though this game would be a nervy affair after the loss on tuesday but thankfully the mentality of the team is spot on. Dust themselves off and get back up a fight for what we all hope and dream of. Is that the first goal that Harte has scored from open play? When that ball hit both uprights i thought that would sum up the match if we lost by one goal but we kept at it all match, pushing, harrying and not sitting back on a two goal lead towards the end.
Beautiful day in the sunshine to boot.

Spoke to Brett Ormerod after the game in the players bar, the view from their dressing room was that, basically, they'd been beaten by a much better team.

I agree with him.

Standard Reading performance. The opposition tended to look more comfortable in possession than we did. But we steam-rollered 'em.

Cheers.

Friday's Legacy church incidently got fouled by a blade of grass

I laughed at this and then realised that it's actually true. Afobe looked decent. No world has been set on fire just yet, but the boy needs a few matches (excuse the pun) after being out for six months.

A glorious day in the sun. Happy.
