Love the fact the thread actually includes a picture of Jimmy pulling up his socks.

One day we're going to have to club together to buy "the icon" a new coat ?

That reminds me of the old Football League Review that used to be sold with the programmes in the early 70s.

RoyalBlue Last time around with a RFC icon in the background of the first one!

That first photo is so clearly 'shopped'.
Blackie without his dogtooth coat - I don't think so.

Sorry, a very cheap and poor quality camera so lack of definition and grubiness!

Incidentally, seeing that magnetic club badge on my car, why the hell don't the club shop sell similar things? They really do miss out on perfect sales opportunities. I had to resort to buying a pair off ebay (only cost @£12 IIRC). Club shop could surely sell them for £10-12 each maybe more.

The club also lost out big time to the street vendors who were smart enough to realise that Reading would probably get promoted that day and that, even if they didn't, they wouldn't be stuck with their stock for more than a week longer! IIRC the commercial department at RFC eventually caught up a couple of weeks later with more expensive and poorer merchandise, by which time many of us were already well equipped courtesy of the street traders and ebay.

And whilst we are at it, how about McDermott and Gibbs garden gnomes?

Yeah I think Reading must be one of the only football clubs I've ever been to with no street vendors.

And so do.... I think it was in the Review that came with the 5p proggy - and I believe it was either at home to Southport, Workington or Bradford City.

SouthDownsRoyal i know we lost but i loved the PO final

+1

Only starting to realise this too. Perhaps it has something to do with this season, one thinks. Funny old feeling in all fairness, was left with a bitter feeling for quite some time after but, as I am beginning to realise that was such a cracking day; and an amazing season which was quickly forgotten... I really, really enjoyed last year, good memories and this season has just concluded it
