I've supported this club since I was 7 (1990) I've been lucky enough to watch our growth under SJM, in the last 22 years. I was unable to be there last night, but I think my whole street knew we'd gone up. I was glued to the radio as always! Mind you, we've lost most of the games I went to this season so it was probably a good thing I wasn't there. I'm really excited about next year, but not about the big 4/5 clubs. I went there 1st time around....its the places like Fulham, Stoke etc where we can get a result that I'm excited about!! I agree that we will struggle, as we 'aren't ready' to go up in the same way as 2006...... But so what, this group (management included) deserves a shot at the Prem!! URZ!!

I'd pay good money for a ticket to a 2006 v 2012 friendly match..... A John Madejski thank you match as he sells up?

I do not like to compare promotions as they are all great moments for the fans and moments to savour and remember that come around every know and then.

Since moving to the Mad Stad we have had three, plus a play off final ,not bad considering the short time we have been playing there.

Love them both equally.

That said. Leigertwood's gay little Nobby Stiles goal celebration dance >>>>>>> Doyle's knee slide.

2006 - better team, better football, more goals, more points.

2012 - better manager (given the resources he had), incredible last 6 games - so tense and coming out the right side every time.

2012 is the first time ever RFC has come on a late run to win promotion and it feels great

IMO
2006 team > 2012 team
McDermott > Coppell
2012 pitch invasion > 2006 pitch invasion

This is better never knew it until yesterday but it is not so much doing it when no there all season, it is the fact we bounced back from a PO final defeat the year before which not many clubs can say they have done!!!

Great achievement

Both wonderful moments but the most emotional promotion for me was at Brentford, the culmination of weeks of horrendous stress, the sheer relief was unforgettable.

I think the big difference with this season has been the bad start and then steady, then good, then very good, then brilliant

We have been accelerating throughout the season, a horse coming from the back
of the field as opposed to getting into the front two early and just staying there,
then taking the lead before half-way (Game 20) and just roaring on.

This season the football hasn't been as good but it's been electric
and the way it all came together in that last 13 minutes was amazing

It's great that we did it at home this time.

You could not have scripted this better. Need a win if West Ham didn't beat Bristol City. West Ham kick off 15 minutes early. Their game ends 1-1. Within 90 seconds Reading take the lead. Crowd go mental. Full time JOB DONE!

I think it's this time for me. 2006 we had better players but 2012 we have a better team.

Oh, and did you see the look on Jason Roberts face after the game? Scarily focused on winning the Championship.

I had a bet at 33-1 that the first goal would be after 80 minutes.

Thank God Harte was slow taking that free kick

I was counting down the second, KNEW we were going to score, going mental

As people have said before they are two very different seasons.

For me the 2006 season / team was the best by far as the team was quality, creative, exciting and still hard working & we tore sides apart for fun. It was the first time in our histroy to reach the top flight so you have to be excited. We deserved to be promoted with easy and we smashed countless records on the way.

2012 Team / Season - I had a feeling we would win the league after Roberts first game, but they are already old and at best functional. They need an overhaul before we are even play next season.

I did enjoy last night, it was a great moment in our clubs history but am I excited about the premier league not really, high prices across the board, less 3 o'clock kick off's and a league we cant win, but hey you cant please everyone!

2006 = a little sh1t club has made the big time, and obliterated everyone in the process with a team of players not known out of the RG postcode.

2012 = the most amazing run-in, in a much harder division... and because we've proven we're not a one-hit wonder (Barnsley/ Bradford/ Burnley/ Blackpool/ Oxford/ Swindon etc)

Have to wonder if this league is better than 06? Obviously we were superb, but the top 2 teams gained nearly 200 points  You have to wonder at the quality of the opposition. Far far stronger oppostition this time round....harder battles are more satisfying.

As an achievement 2012 equals 2006, but winning the title would surpass it for me.

On a personal satisfaction level 2006 will always be more special, but seeing us winning promotion (or the title) would have made up for that. Sadly that wasn’t meant to be as it came a game too soon, :( (wasn’t there last night but will be on Saturday). Obviously can’t win title at the Palace game too as Saints are playing later.

Similarities to 2006, Gorkss and Pearce not missing a game, or being sent off, a la Ingi and Sonko. But the moment when I started to think promotion was possible was back in February when we had a midweek away game on Valentines Day and then a Sky game on the Friday the same week – when it dawned on me that that was an exact repeat of 2006.
