They let the usual weekday mob cause havoc, but won't let us celebrate our promotion :!:

I don't see how they're realistically going to stop just Reading fans from going out Saturday night and celebrating. Just leave your RFC fleece at home and you'll be fine.

Thames Valley Police must not be aware of the classic sociological concepts of deviance and labelling. Specifically the idea of a false definition of the situation and the risk of evoking new behaviour which makes the original false conception come 'true'. This specious validity of the self-fulfilling prophecy perpetuates a reign of error. For the prophet will cite the actual course of events as proof that he was right from the very beginning.

Exactly right. It's alright for the non football fans to wreak havoc every night but different laws/rules for us.

Silver Fox Rumours were abounding on Tuesday night that TVP are locking town down on Saturday post-match, don't know how true this is

Unprecedented. Can't see it happening myself. Can't they just have a designated fight pub?

First rule of fight pub.....

love it

Lads, can you help me out here? Going to go into town with the gf after the game to get some drinking done and hopefully watch Saints Boro/El Classico. I dont live in Reading, but i've tried to watch football in a pub a few times and always ended up in that shithole Walkabout full of Chelsea/Man U/Lpool muppets due to lack of other options. Is there any actual decent pubs to watch the game? Preferably one where Reading fans will be congregating given the ooccasion! Ta

So there will be no chance of watching the game in a pub on Sunday evening in Reading?!

I guess I should leave my season ticket at home when I go into town after the game?

Town centre pubs won't let you in after the match from 5 till about 7pm.

Definitely showing the Boro' game and where you will get in are Gr8 Expectations,Red Lion, Turks. Have some beers in there and wait till after 7pm and you should be fine to go anywhere after.

Evening Post guy just spoke to TVP. No truth in the rumours. Home Leg of the Promotion Party is on.

You 'might' be fine if you don't look like you've been to football. turn up in groups and you definitely won't get let in anywhere....

To be fair to the pubs if this lot turned up I'd be pretty worried about it kicking off in my pub too

Fans have been asked to stay off the pitch if Reading FC beat Crystal Palace at the Madejski Stadium tomorrow and take a step closer to securing the Championship title.

Hundreds of fans poured on to the pitch after the Royals clinched promotion on Tuesday but police say they do not want a repeat of those scenes and have asked fans to stay in their seats and let players do their lap of honour.

Police have also scotched rumours that town centre pubs will be forced to close after the game.

Police spokesman Craig Evry said: "Along with the club we are appealing for fans to stay off the pitch at the end of the game and allow the players to do their lap of honour.

"That's the only message we're giving out. There are no plans to close pubs."

The Royals will win the Championship tomorrow if they do better at home to Crystal Palace than Southampton do away against Middlesbrough.

Reading's game kicks off at 3pm but Southampton's does not kick of until 5.20pm meaning fans will have to wait to find out if the team has won the title.

Apparently the temporary closure is just a rumour. Perhaps this needs clearing up once and for all. :?
