Ups and Downs I doubt this film will happen anyway.

Well, think about it. George Best was definately more well known than him, and what films have come out? I can think of just that one bad 'made for TV movie', am I right? But Bestie never kidnapped any swans or crapped in any kitbags (correct?), so perhaps they could make a more entertaining feature this time? I think they should definately try.

If Friday was played by Evans, Fielding or anyone too skinny, they could easily fatten them up for it! And CGI could surely recreate Elm Park, because Craven Cottage is unsuitable nowadays (unlike that '"lace called Maiden'ead" scene), and maybe it'll be redeveloped by the time this could be made anyway...

I just mean that he's been trying to get it made for 12 years without success.

Thing with Paolo Hewitt is that he's now got two releases under his belt. He reckons its a go-er.

Do you think it will pass the Premier League ground requirements..?

Maybe 'Zing' will fund it so he can re-create the feeling he had as a student watching the mighty hoops from the EP terraces..

I was always under the impression that Paulo Hewitt was a 24 carat bell end who spent his entire life pretending he was Paul Weller? However, if he succeeds in making a film that is about football and it is watchable without inducing extreme nausea like all the others, I will change my opinion.

just thinking about "When Saturday Comes" starring Sean Bean makes the vomit rise up my throat.

"Forget it son, thou will nowt make a footballer, you are t'waste of t'space just like thou t'dad."

"Eeeee, fook off thee no nowt, I'm going to come on as thowt sub and score two reet blinding goals in t'Cup semi Final against Man United I am...eeehh...get us another pint!!

You're right. It will inevitably be absolutely shite.

Whats the film with Ian Mcshane in? It's so bad it's good about a washed up player who makes a comeback. He is about two stone overwieght and the clips are intermixed with the league cup final between Forest and Soton using that ball with the red stripe around it. If you remember that then your an old git like me.

It must be on Youtube or somewhere, I remember it vaguely...personally speaking, for being so bad they are good, you can look no further than the hooligan films featuring utter cnuts like Danny Dyer or that one with an American trying to be a cockney....Lord above that was a shocker.

"When a 35-year old ex-soccer hero falls into a pit of alcoholic servitude, his dreams seem shattered. To his rescue comes an ex-lover and her boyfriend, who are determined to make him the champion he once was."

Sounds like the same synopsis for a Robin Friday film

Always had Paul McGann down as destined to play the Robin role. Like others a tad concerned that some bland morality play shoite will be the result but will be delighted if they can pull it off(the film of course).
