Very pleased with things after watching the press conference. When he mentioned European football, my heart skipped a little bit. In my 12 years of supporting this club I would never have thought something like this would happen.

Samuelson has been around a while - he looks like a fella I know, made me notice him - I first spotted him parking in the car park outside the Megastore on a match day some time in September/October....

In reality isn't European football (outside the champions league) just drab ties against Eastern European opposition in half empty stadia?

Say Reading did a Fulham, and perhaps reach a UEFA cup (or whatever it's called these days) final, even then there's a lot of dull rubbers to get through on rainy Thursday evenings.

Have to admit, on the face of it, it looks fantastic. Every answer was exactly what 90% of fans wanted to hear.

Even if it all goes tits up, it's been fun while it lasted and we shouldn't lose too much.

RepressedRoyal Speed would be a legitimate cause for concern if the money had been dangled and JM said yes with no further questions, I guess I got spooked by rumours that JM has got money problems. The well constructed press conference has made me feel better, but are you saying you have no concerns at all Winchester?

I wouldn't say I have no concerns, my main one now is that it'll all breakdown after all this excitement, but I've got faith in SJM that he will always do right by the club.

And tbh, just look at how old excited the old man has got about it all. We've seen more of him in the last couple of days than we have in the last 5 years. He clearly thinks it's the real deal, and I don't sense any trepidation on his part.

And I like the sound of Anton, he doesn't seem like one of these foreign owners who wants to be treated like a king, the fact that he spent hours&hours talking to Brian about the team etc..

I've just got a good feeling about it all, I suppose some will be nervous about it, but I genuinely think we've got a lot to be excited about in the coming years.

If nothing else it's exciting, and deary me did this season need something to bring it our of dourness.

we did want to, you can't sell me the story that our heart wasn't in it at blackburn. luck just wasn't on our side that day.

Yeah I know but that was different, building up a brilliant squad and punching above our w8. To watch an RFC press conference and have Europe mentioned as a reasonable target just looks and sounds funny imho

Watching the press conference, it was clear that there is both mutual respect and a certain chemistry between the two of them. They could almost have been reading each other's lines. It looks like SJM has found the perfect investor. Interesting times ahead!

I thought we still finished high enough to apply for one of them but didn't bother.

perhaps, i don't recall it though but my memory is terrible. it would have meant a horrendous pre-season regime though, then the long hard season with little summers rest. not the best prep for what we expected was a tough season.

Intertoto Cup - a different proposition. Completely messes with your off-season, which shouldn't be taken lightly.

Pre-season is for vital competitions like the Peace Cup

If we had wanted Europe bad enough, surely we would have entered?

Take now for example, with our new investment, we would surely jump at the chance of Intertoto Cup if we finish high enough.
