Yes, he always seems to predict doom for us (last season he predicted we'd fall away) and we keep proving him wrong.

I just find him so incredibly negative and factually incorrect. What's he talking about - we've managed to attract some top players!

Lawro can go and suck my fat one. Keep predicting us to lose and we will prove him wrong. Again.

To be fair last time we went up 'most' of the pundits (pre first game) said we would stay up (largely) because of our pacey frontline. They were right.

This time, accordingly to them 'all', we are doomed.

The Stoke game already feels to me like a "must win" game.

I agree with an earlier post, Lawro has never got over that present that Robin Friday left in his kit bag!!

Well done Robin, the legend lives on in his faeces!

As for Lawro,an ever bigger turd, one that Friday would of been proud of!!

He has to get it right sometimes I guess, but last season Lawro's predictions were consistantly appalling. Anyway, I was pleased to see he wasn't on MOTD tonight.

stickywhisky I couldn't care less, i'm happy for 'pundits' to write us off - it gives us something to prove and i'm confident we will surprise a few people this season. I even think we will finish higher than Stoke this season.

This.... on paper you cant argue we look short but what most pundits don't understand is how much we play together as a real team which i think will see us stay above the line

He was way down the list on his own prediction league on the BBC website last season, being beaten by such well known football people as Tinchy Strider, Russell Grant and Ola Jordan from Strictly Come Dancing. Here it is:

the way they score it doesn't reflect the probability of the event happening. Predicting Man City to beat Southampton gives you a point but will only earn you 1.22

Calling correct score of our game returned him 7.20 etc

What do you mean "keep"? so far he has predicted one 1-1 draw.

It's Lawro's own prediction league, he knows the rules, so I think the results are valid. He may have had a good day today, but over last season he was pretty bad.

You'd be wrong i'm afraid. He made money and has done so pretty consistently since i could be bothered to track it.

Lawro Sunderland v Reading
I'm not sure about Sunderland's £12m move to sign Steven Fletcher, because it is a lot of money for not too many goals - Fletcher only scored 12 for Wolves in the top flight last season.
But Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill must feel he can get more out of him, and he is the sort of manager able to extract every ounce of effort from everybody.
Reading played on Wednesday too so this is a tough ask for them at the end of their first week back in the Premier League. Their problem is that, after a good comeback to get a point against Stoke, and leading for a while against Chelsea before falling behind to a goal that they felt was offside, they don't have a win.
Yes, they were a bit unlucky against Chelsea but then you also have to remember that their goalkeeper Adam Federici has thrown two goals in his net in two games, and they have conceded five in total.
Royals boss Brian McDermott is a shrewd guy but my worry is whether he has got enough quality in his side to keep them up.
They give lots of opportunities to the opposition and they have found out the hard way what it is like to be back among the big boys. You can get away with the mistakes you make in the Championship but, as everyone knows, you get punished in the Premier League.
Prediction: 2-1

He was spot on with the score v Stoke so hoping he is off this time - don't want a defeat on Saturday, thanks.

i have to take issue with his comment about us conceding 5, yes we have, two goalie errors. a penalty. an offside goal. and the fourth last night thats wouldnt have been conceded under normal circumstances, not a single "normal goal" from open play. he knows naff all, once Feds sorts himself out we will be just fine,
