It's all about the Prem and it would be good to give other players some practice, so...I would go:

Federici

Gunter Pearce Marriapa Harte

Gunnarson

McCleary Tabb Leighterwood Robson Kanu

Roberts

I don't expect we'll deviate much from the first team line-up.

============================ McCarthy ============================

==== Gunter ======= Mariappa ============= Gorkss ======= Shorey ====

==== McCleary ====== Leigertwood ====== Guthrie ========= McAnuff ====

================ Roberts ============== Le Fondre =================

Seeing as McDermott thinks he has players for two elevens then I guess he'd want to play the other one where available.
Sorta guessing Guthrie won't be involved considering what we've heard.

------------------Federici----------------
--Gunter---Pearce-----Morrison---Harte--
--McCleary-Tabb-Leigertwood (c)--HRK--
---------Le Fondre---------Hunt------------

Subs: Mccarthy, Shorey, Gorkss, Obita, McAnuff, Church, Roberts

howser This will give you a smile :-

--------------------------------------Feds------------------------------------

-----------------Pearce-----------Mariappa----------Gorks----------------

McLeary-------------Tabb--------Guthrie-----------Ledge--------Mcanuff

----------------------Roberts------------------Hunt-------------------------

Why not we have tried just about every other formation, play with the sweeper, both McLeary and Mcanuf can do the full back cover, and it allows Guthrie to dictate the play with two defensive midfield ball winners doing the donkey work.

That actually solves a lot of problems! Doesn't work for Kebe which is a big shame though.

May as well thrown Samuel into the equation.

I've mulled over this formation for a bit and I really like it actually. Full strength you would have Pog, McCarthy and Karacan in!

Right so after Gorkss has been skinned for pace 20-30 times down the right, short arse Mariappa is going to out jump all of the strikers?

You need top players for that formation, it's never going to happen.

That must be why Wigan have made it work so well at times.

Would like to see Samuel and Obita get a run out. Until we put them against quality opposition, who knows they could be shit or they could be really comfortable.

Dunno, but it's a game most of us are expecting to lose and it's not as if 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 have been working all that well this season. I know we'll never play it though.

Would love to see Brynjar involved, but he played the full 90 for the u21s yesterday so it's unlikely. As did Samuel, for those who suggested him.

I agree basically. Unfortunately, Samuel got 90 mins for U21s yesterday so its not going to happen for him. However, Obita wasn't involved at all which can only mean he'll be involved tonight - there's no other reason to leave him out!

I reckon it'll be:

GK - Federici

RB - Gunter
CB - Pearce
CB - Mariappa
LB - Harte

RM - McCleary
CM - Guthrie
CM - Tabb
LM - Robson Kanu

ST - Hunt
ST - Roberts

SUBS: Taylor, Obita, Gorkss, Le Fondre, Church, Gunnarsson, McAnuff

Which on paper is actually a team i'd feel fairly confident of seeing being given a run out. Here's hoping

If they're playing Frimpong, we need to play Leigertwood otherwise he'd bully both Tabb and Guthrie all night long.

If alfie doesnt start tonight i think the team selection is a disgrace. He comes on in about the last 10-15 minutes and is a complete game changer, his movement amd finishing are premiership class. Therefore my team would be this.
Feds - needs confidence hopefully doesnt cost us
Gunter - offers a much better attacking option behind mccleary
Marriapa - quick got good feet can play a ball best centre back
Pearce - needs to be given a chance class young defender
Shorey - looks comfterble at this level

Mccleary - brilliant feet great winger best weve got
Legs - strong gets stuck in class act
Macunuff - should test him CM
Robson Kanu - thinks hes a threat kebe deserves to be dropped

Alf - best striker we have
Hunt - brilliant in the air these two could link nicely
