Avon Royal Again, full circle.....

What is the point of competing for promotion if we are not going to make the investment necessary to compete when we are up?

I can't be bothered to retype it all, but I essentially answered that question in this post viewtopic.php?f=1&t=115729&start=380#p3514986

Yet shooting down others who offer viable opinions of how we can achieve some organic growth without the aid of a sugar daddy.

Some fair observations, but isn't that what people said last time we were relegated?

Yes and since then we've had an academy player that was POTS, Karacan a key man in CM that was pivotal last season & we sold Gylfi for £7m & he is now playing for a top top club.

So what's your point?

Not so sure about playing SJM back his loans....would be a bit odd for Anton to take the club on 100%, but to still owe the previous owner nigh on £30M....

Avon - you are clearly massively frustrated at the manner in which the club is run. Not having a dig, but you really need to learn to accept it/get over it because the way it is run will not be changing any time soon!

Unless of course you have connections to sugar daddies that you can put Anton in touch with & we can start throwing money about?

Be grateful for what you have I say. We could be Pompey fans after all. (Yes I know that is the extreme but the point remains).

Avon Royal What is beyond doubt is that until we get rid of the Reading Way millstone we won't get any bigger.

But that's what's primarily responsible for our success over the last decade!

Or should we show ambition and spend money we don't have?

MmmMonsterMunch Clearly what you mean by ambition is spend money.......

Exactly.

I'm half expecting them to start banging on about investment soon.

MmmMonsterMunch Don't agree about us keeping up with others. We are doing a LOT better than many clubs at bringing talent through.

Yeah and selling them on

the SJM reading way has taken us from a third tier club on average, to a top end 2nd tier in twenty years, through sensible management, prudent spending, and infrastructure improvements.
we can continue to do so in that manner, or we can get another new owner who is willing to literally throw millions of pounds down the drain purely for a laugh. im not sure there are many of those out there who wouldnt prefer to buy a historically big team instead.

so we are left with doing it the way that has brought us all of our success. success we could only have creamed our selves over before SJM came in.

if we spend wisely, like we did last january we can be a success at championship level, and use the money from promotions to grow slowly and incrementally until we are able to compete in the prem.we just have to look to the west broms of this world, and manage our finances so it doesnt kill us when relegation happens, & so we are ready to bounce back.

not sure how you all expect us to make such a jump, without huge investment,
and raging against the management team who have got us this far is shortsighted, ignorant and pretty stupid. imo

thats kind of the point of them though, to play for us for a while, cheaply, then eventually to be sold, generating money to spend on the squad/club.

there are no one club players any more

Yeah but how can we establish ourselves as a premier team if we keep sell off our best talent and selling them off early in my opinion
