I wonder if he's interested in a Doovdé player.

"I will go to England to sign a contract with Arsenal after the friendly match against Tanzania" , said Sunzu Stopilla .

According to one of the African footy experts I follow on twitter @Foetbal247

'hes a very good player who can play in midfield and defence..hes a very good passer of the ball..he's going to #afc'

Foetbal247 didn't know about the Reading link but he really rates him as a player. Could be a great signing.

Seem to be a few reports of him coming to us now;

http://www.zambianfootball.co.zm/?p=2658

Sunzu now claims he will sign for Reading and not Arsenal

Man of the moment Stopilla Sunzu has said he has opted to for Reading and not Arsenal because Arsene Wenger has indicated that the player will have to undergo trails before putting pen to paper.

The 23 year old who left for Ghana with Herve Renard and Rainford Kalaba for tomorrow’s Glo/CAF Awards gala has been quoted in the local media that he has an invitation from the Reading and the trip to England is still very alive.

“I will be traveling to England after the Tanzania game but I won’t be going to Arsenal. Arsenal want me to do trials first but that’s not ideal,” Sunzu spoke before he left for Accra yesterday,” Sunzu has been quoted in The Post newspapers.

“Instead, I will be going to Reading were I will just sign instead of doing trials.

Sunzu-mania has hit Zambia in the last few days after Zambianfootball.co.zm first revealed that the TP Mazembe defender cum midfielder was England bound.

Sunzu Set to Put Pen to Paper at English Side, Reading

Reading but will have to pass medicals before putting pen to paper.

The TP Mazembe star defender is expected to put pen to pen next week after which he will travel to South Africa to join Chipolopolo’s training camp.

Sunzu alongside Rainford Kalaba and coach Herve Renard are currently in Ghana for the CAF awards to be held on Thursday [today] night.

The former Afrisports defebder is favourite to win the Africa Footballer of the Year Award (continent-based players) at the Gala Ceremony.

And I've seen things since with him saying he is going to Arsenal, Wenger said he won't be going for a trial but a medical and to discuss terms.

He's probably been contacted by Arsenal, they had a bid, we had a bid, Arsenal said you'll have to come for a medical, he took it as a trial, said he'd come to Reading then, Arsenal clarified and he's going there.

End of the day, if we are serious, ball is in their court.

Blogpost on the guy I found.

interesting article on Sunzu there. TP Mazembe have certainly got a record of producing exciting and talented players, however a cut price fee wont be easy as they are run by a wealthy former Congolese politician. I think it would be an interesting signing, though it would go against would we require right now - an experienced prem defender and a similar move for Khumalo who was the same age from Sun Sports didnt exactly work out. Still, we are the kind of club that could help the likes of Sunzu grow...

He has been played as a defensive midfielder which is what we would be crying out for if we switched to a 4-5-1.

He's what we're cryinh out for even in a 4-4-2. Leigertwood isn't good enough and to be brutally honest, nor is Tabb.

Sunzu is in London today speaking to Arsenal.

Even if he doesn't sign for us, at least we are expanding our scouting out of Ireland....

Stopilla Sunzu anyone?

by bradleylewsrfc » 20 Dec 2012 12:57

Just read a transfer rumor on Stopilla, apparently we're laying down £3m for him. Highlights on him seem decent, better than any of our current. Anyone know any better or worse?

Thinking that we need a solid CB, seems a potential decent buy. Now just for another 3 or 4 further replacements. :|
