No time for sentiment.

Work horse, gave it his all but all not premier league standard and struggled for a championship place.

Will be well regarded by the fans here, including me. He will have no problem finding another club. But with a midfield over run, changes are needed.

SPARTA Tabby is worth two Leigertwood's. They've got this the wrong way around IMO. Both are Championship midfielders though.

Oh your criticism of Leigertwood is oxf*rd tiresome mate.

Most on Twitter seem to agree that Tabb is better for us at this level than Leigertwood. Legs panics on the ball, gives away possession far too easily, and tires by the 70th minute. Tabby on the other hand runs and runs, closes down at every opportunity, and has never once moaned at being a bit-part player.

I can understand Tabby making the tough decision to go, as he has just seen two more def.mids come in and he's already on the fringes, but for me there is no question who the better midfielder is!

He is has been far better than Leigertwood this season, but.....I do not see what he brings to the team playing in the Premiership. Can't pass, can't score, can't shoot. Shame though, his enthusiasm and commitment was second to none.

Good luck Jay.

Saturday may be his last chance.

Hopefully we can let him take the penalty once we have the safety of a four goal cushion...........then again.

Agree with you and Sparta, and there's a lot of support for Tabb online tonight.

shame. I can understand him going, and it makes sense if this is his decision, but yes totally agree he is better than Leigertwood, but the new boys coming in even push that lump to the bench now (hopefully)

I hope sky have just worded it wrong, should had read that tabb can leave on a free in january if he wants first team football as reading cant guarantee him that.

Cant see Reading treating like him like sky are claiming.

Can understand letting him go. How do you fit him into the 25 especially if we hope to get another attacking midfielder

Possible 25 squad:

Feds, Mikkel, Taylor
Kelly, Pierce, Mariappa, Shorey, Harte, Gunter,Gorkks, Cummings,
Jem, Kebe, McCleary, McAnuff, HRK, Guthrie, Carrico, Legs, +hopefully another attacking midfielder (no place for Bryn)
Roberts, Pav, ALF, Hunt, Church

Morrison, Akpan (underage)

Of these i'd get rid of either Church which would leave us short of strikers, Gorkks - will BMc really let him go??, Legs - again will Bmc get rid of him.

Harte could be the one to go but personally I would prefer to keep him.

Think Tabb should be the one to leave. Apart from effort, what does he give to the team?

Oh come off it.

Can't remember how weak the Tabb/Karacan midfield axis looked before we brought Ledge in a couple of seasons ago?

Tabb's a fantastic guy who puts himself about, but lets get real here. The guy does not have the basic skill set to be a premier league footballer. If that's where we want to be established in 5 years then we need to be building a squad full of guys capable of playing at this level. I'm sure Ledge will be off when his contract is over, but he will be a very useful guy to have around come next season if we find ourselves in the championship.

Considering he hardly got in the team last season and had never scored a goal for us, I'm not too upset over this news

Exactly

Deary me, Tabby probably wants regular first team football at this stage of his career and given he's not getting it with us we're letting him go. The reaction to this on twitter is fucking LOLaughable

It's certainly caused a bit of a stir on twitter.

My OP was more a  that this came out of nowhere and in Caricco's fitness and Akpans experience I'm not sure we have got an immediate replacement if needed.

We've already got the replacement in Jem, which is why Tabb hasn't started the last 3 prem games.

We are allowing him to go while at the peak of his career, that should get him a better wage at a better club. This is actually a good thing to do for all concerned.

We all like him, we all see that his form has been better than Ledge, it's just that we are *trying* to improve the squad and this is part of that process.

Perhaps Ledge is on wages that would be harder to shift? Perhaps Ledge is a key man n the dressing room? Who knows...
