Well done to both - very much deserved.

The transformation in the last 6 weeks or so really has been quite something. We've gone from looking down and out to now having a very decent chance of survival.

Looking back through the tables, on Christmas Day we had 9 points from 18 Premier League games (so 0.5 points per game)

In the 7 league games since then, we've got 14 points (so 2 points per game)

That's a pretty incredible turnaround, and these achievements are testament to that.

maffff I'm sure McDermott broke the curse last season.

Didn't affect Coppell in 2005/06.

Well done to the pair of them.

Another bitter swipe by a club clearly jealous of last seasons title success!

Pathetic really!

alderdude Is Le Fondre the first player to win player of the month without starting a league game in that month?

Good shout. Must be a first, surely?

stickywhisky I remember a few years ago that winning MOTM had a negative effect on the following games.

I weep for this country.

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Correlatio ... _causation

Winning MOTM means your team has been on an unusually good run of form.
Unusually good runs of form normally don't last very long (which is why they are "unusual").
Therefore a manager who wins a MOTM award may well see his team's form regress to "baseline" level.
Hopefully McDermott has raised our "baseline", like he did last season, rather than simply starting a good run of form.

Every time I look on there it whiffs of bitterness towards us. Funny really - I used to quite like them.

I really hope we give a better account of ourselves at home against them than we did at St Marys - we were bloody crap that day!

So, a form player fails to make the national squad. That is a shame but hardly surprising. Good recognition all the same though for both of them.

It is excellent recognition for both for the months endeavours as individuals and a team. Collectively popping our heads above the relegation zone in such a manner has been tortuous to watch but almost puts this team on the collective radar.
Keep off our manager and choice players come the summer. :x

Le Fondre's stats for Janaury are impressive

7 goals in 265 minutes played with only two full starts.

le Fondre made it into the FIFA 13 Ultimate Team 'Team of the Week' FYI

Although I'm sure anyone interested in this already knows as they play the game, and anyone that doesn't know doesn't play FIFA so doesn't care.
