Big Foot As pro-McDermott as I am, I have a real dislike for this "trend" to applaud/chant through a particular minute in "tribute" for someone/something.

Agreed, but as a one off for one night only I think it's fair enough

Perhaps if the fans cared that much, they'd have sung support for McDermott on Saturday instead of chanting the name of a wannabe chav centre midfielder who's done phuck all for the club, including refusing to play.

Jokers.

reading fans don't really show much emotion when it comes to being in a football stadium anyway.

joeroyal
leicsRoyal Will it be the same fans joining in this tribute as those booing on Saturday that put the final nail in his coffin?

The decision to sack Brian was poorly timed IMO but maybe after the silly booing on Saturday AZ thought he had little choice.

I feel sorry for Brian and the club owe him a huge debt of gratitude which came in the way of a new contract for which he has now got the monetary benefit if nothing else, but in Brian's words.....

WE MOVE ON. (In a better place than when BMc took charge)

Feel sorry for Brian what are you ?man or mouse the guy got paid for his work. Move on next please

Whether you like/dislike this new trend of minute applause, Brian needs some sort of tribute. How about McDermott face masks? Haha

It's not a one off though, this is part of the shift in culture at football that I resent.

Villa fans applauding in the 19th minute for Petrov / Reading fans applauding in the 3rd minute for Armstrong etc etc

Perhaps if the fans cared that much, they'd have sung support for McDermott on Saturday instead of chanting the name of a wannabe chav centre midfielder who's done phuck all for the club, including refusing to play.

I'm totally 100% with you on that. Would anybody whos been advocating Guthrie like to come on tell us what he did with his first touch?

How about:

McDermott woooohhhh, McDermott wooooohhhhhhh;
He used to manage Reading,
The dole queues where he's heading;
McDermott wooohhhhh, McDermott woooohhhh.....

This is such a plastic idea. It's like it's become cool to clap for a minute... actually, did we invent it? That sums up our atmosphere lately.

Man Friday Just sing "Brian McDermott's Barmy Army" throughout.

Oh, and "Sack the Board". :lol:
and a chant of "we don't know what we're doing".

I agree, I think the best thing we can do is to move on - it's what Brian would be saying if he was in front of a camera.

It would be different if he was dead, not on holiday working out how to spend his compensation & planning his future.

If your bothered, write him a personal letter - I might do that wishing him well, not sure where to send it just yet though but I imagine it will be a team above us in the league next season.

Delboy 13th minute to celebrate his number of years with the club

Seems as good as any. I think we should do this as Brian will be able to hear on TV if Old Trafford is the usual library.

I went to a Reading at OT in 07/08 ( i think). I could barely see the Reading fans let alone hear them (was in the home end). The only way to identify
us was a half empty wedge surrounded by marshalls. I've hardly been away any where else but it always strikes me that home crowds aren't that good

Continuously for the whole 13th minute, followed by frantic applause, then we can get back on with supporting the team.
