No Hoops Interesting he has spoken to him every day though.

"Hi Brian, so what would you do at United?"

"Drop Guthrie, he's a bad'un. Carrico too. Say they're injured, it worked for me. I'd suggest sitting back, suck up the pressure and hit it long into the channels. It worked when Longy was here. It'll work again, it just needs time. Then move on."

"Ah Jesus, you're good fello. I'll dedicate the result to you from Match of The Day, hey."

Dolan came across well/much better in the longer radio interview.

IF he has some ready-made thoughts about how to play/what team to play, out of respect to Brian he wouldn't say he did.

So a watching brief.

Elm Park Pasty Probably knows the task in front of him a)in lifting players after such a dismal run, b) on maybe being offered the job if things go well, even if he doesn't want it c) atm can't lose as he can just back to other job if things don't go well and d) doesn't want to big us up before Man Utd and then be made to look a c*ck when they steam roller over us.

Since the events of Monday this week I have come round to the conclusion that there never was a manager-in-waiting ready to be offered the job. This was probably going to always end up in ED's lap, and AZ/NH were happy with that fact. It was always probable that Gibbo would walk once Brian was sacked, and I believe the club made these assumptions before the sacking took place. It's known that Dolan has respect for what he does inside and outside the club, and we are led to believe that the Academy teams play in much more the way that AZ is alleged to want the first team to play thus he was a safe pair of hands to try and get the team playing again until a new manager is found.

TBH, the girls and women's setups also play football the way that AZ wants the first team to play (the flowing passing style). It's only the senior men's setup at the club that doesn't!

Its a fact though, thanks to the transfer window and our owner being only a paper millionnaire...

I found the talking to Brian everyday a bit bizarre - there was a point in the Wolves saga last season where it was suggested Mick McCarthy was the only person who hadn't ruled out taking the job, I can't see they could have possibly done worse if they'd just re-appointed him.

If Brian returns after the Man U and Arsenal defeats it will be massively gambolising, everyone will definitely know they are playing for their lives, not a cushty season back in the championship. Very Russia to get your top people sent to the Gulag for a bit, and get them back with a heightened sense of fear...

RFCSPACE We have an away game against Man Utd ahead of a two week break before going to Arsenal away. I make that at least a month to appoint someone ahead of a competitive fixture.

Had someone been lined up everyone would be going berserk about going behind Brian's back.

So Dolan has been appointed as 'Nightwatchman' effectively, until we have some more winnable fixtures because no-one in their right mind would want to take over and suffer two humiliating reverses?

Tbh, we'd probably have at least had a bit more confidence that there is some sort of plan in place if they'd sacked Brian and had someone else take over within 24 hours rather than this quacking shambles.

The more I read the interview the more I just think he will pick the same team as Brian, because he is doesn't want to disrespect Brian or the players.

Please for the love of god just shake up the formation and personnel. Nothing to lose now, we need to be trying different combinations!

We should put you in charge. What is it, Christmas Tree formation, 6-5-0? What do you usually play on football manager?

You reckon  . Many on here seemed to be delighted with the decision to sack Brian and the timing of the decision is apparently irrelevant :|. Read on another thread that these next two games don't matter either! Amazed by the blind loyalty of people towards an owner we know so little about.

You bet he will. And what else can he do? No Pog, you can hardly play ALF or Hunt in the loan role as they won't be remotely good enough to do so, Kebe is injured, the only option I can really see is bringing Morrison back in which is a bit like deciding which piece of tin to put on your head when facing the German artillery in WWI.

Saw this on TV this morning.... wasn't the most impressive TV debut I've seen. You would have thought he might have prepared some kind of answer to the obvious questions, or at least thought about them, or about how he was going to come across generally - because it seemed like he was a bit thundrestruck and with no ideas

For someone who used to like the attention of both the fans and the media, Sir John has been very very quiet. No little tribute to Brian - nothing. Maybe he wasn't really consulted on this - with TSI owning 51% they can more or less ride roughshod over SJM and there's not a thing he can do about it.

I do think if we appoint Dolan until the end of the season it's daft and we might as well have kept Brian on but AZ could have taken him to one side and said, if we go down, I'm going to suggest we part by mutual consent. At least McD would have known where he stood - if he didn't like it, he could have resigned. The players might have given one more push to stay up - but if some of us are a bit down at this situation, imagine how the players feel....

Why would the media want to speak to him? He's not the caretaker, and he's not the one in charge who made the decision. SJM will do the club management talking when Anton's out the country and unavailable. But the guy was here to make the decision and do the interviews so he did.

I'm not talking about today's interview with Dolan you loony.

I was just thinking on the subject of him talking to the press etc , that you'd have thought SJM would have made some comment since the sacking, either to BBCRB or 107FM or the EP - but he's been very very quiet.

What interviews are you talking about? Do you mean AZ then?

And SJM is still, technically, the chairman. Do you really not find it odd that he's not made any comment whatsoever - not even a little tribute to Brian? :|

He isn't the owner any more, so quite rightly he stays in the shadows. Sad but true. Also, he wouldn't have been supportive of McDermott's sacking; after all, he stuck by Coppell. So you can't expect him to come out and pretend it was the right decision, and equally you can't expect him to say AZ was wrong either.

He has nothing to lose, he's selling his share this year isn't he? I'd have thought a lot of him if he'd just made some sort of statement thanking Brian for everything he had achieved for the club thus far, after all, he appointed him. Maybe he's been gagged by AZ and his cronies.

No.

"Brian is a great friend of mine and I've spoken to him each day. He said good luck - and get a result"
