Centre back that played his one and only game for us the same day he was signed, away to Swindon on Valentines day about 10 years ago...

Finding out that Tony Barras is 41 has made me feel quite old.

He's only 41?

We seemed to have loads of these types of players in the early 90's. To name a few:

David Robinson. Striker on loan from Newcastle. Didnt score and probably still hasn't based on his performances for us.

Steve Archibald. One game. Missed the ball completely with an open goal. Trevor saved his blushes.

Gary Brook. Signed becasue he was sub for Spurs in the cup final.

Steve Morrow. "Tomorrow, tomorrow, just give it, to Morrow"

Brian Statham

Ray Wallace

Gerry Britton

And who could forget Aaron Giametti. Came on as sub at Bradford, was so bad he got subbed back off again. Not seen since.

Hats off to the Colin Cort shout. Didn't he get credited with an og in that game?

floyd__streete David McDonald – unremarkable right back signed from Spurs during the days when McGhee had more loans than the Greek government. Literally no-one else I have spoken to remembers this man, so it is possible that I have dreamed him up. I’d be thrilled if someone wanted to get in touch via DM perhaps and we could share some memories, perhaps set up a ‘I paid money to watch David McDonald Support Group’.

My sad memory can offer you this snippet....

Made his debut at Fulham having signed on loan late on the friday.

Remember Reading fans having to ask the players who he was when they were warming up.

one of the players - can't remember who exactly said "noone knows who he is. he's not even been introduced to us. i think he's ACTUALLY playing though."

I love the fact we were really shambolic in them days.

Reminds me of Wolves away, 96/97. Post-Shaka we had a new 'keeper every week. For this game we had a new loan signing. The Molineux tannoy (sorry, that's the brand name - PA) and the announcer's thick Black Country accent ensured that I had no idea until buying the Evening Post on the following Monday that Tommy Wright was the man who kept a clean sheet on debut.

Remember going to Leeds in the League Cup and seeing Eric Nixon warming up for us. Don't think he played though. maybe on the bench.

yes we were proper shambolic in those days.

He did play. He was utter, utter shit. I've never forgiven him.

He did. And then Jimmy Allan in the Swindon goal pretty much evened things up if I remember correctly.

and from the same sort of era as Codner (who I actually thought wasn't bad), I raise you a Michael Thorp. Big lumbering centre back who from memory got released by the club then taken back on within a few weeks when we had a spate of injuries

Remember a Tuesday night game where Kevin Lisbie and Mark Bowen played.

Steve Blatherwick came on loan twice didn't he?

And as someone menbtioned, the year of the goalkeepers....Chris Woods, Steve Sutton and many many more!

Was he that young kid who played for us once when we had an injury crisis amongst our stikers? Don't think he even ever scored goals in our youth set up. Didn't he end up playing in Scandinavia somewhere?

Remember David Byrne on the right wing in 91/92? He was quite good. And David Lee in midfield was even better. We had so many loan signings in 1991/92.
