I think that privately Adkins has accepted we're going down and use the remaining games to give all his players a chance to impress before he decides who to keep for next season.

Even if we're accepting that we're going down, I'd quite like us to try and play the best we can. That means playing Pearce, because right now he's a lot better than Morrison.

Ideal
sandman McDermott allegedly drops Pearce over his contract - "What's he doing? He's just holding a grudge because Pearcey hasn't signed a contract. He should play him as Pearcey is our best defender".

Adkins allegedly drops Pearce over his contract - "Well you can see where he's coming from, Pearcey isn't irreplaceable and he thinks he's above RFC".

When will this endless honeymoon period end for Adkins?

100% spot on, one rule for McD, another for Adkins.

I reckon Ideal and Sandman would fit right in on this forum:

For those without a sense of humour that part was what is commonly known as a joke.

A parody if you will of the subject matter of the thread below:

My biggest concern over Morrison on Saturday was his chronic lack of pace. Looked relatively solid otherwise, but anyone with any semblance of pace will absolutely crucifiy him - Rodriguez and Lambert aren't an especially quick front two but both of them beat him in foot races on Saturday. Pearce is certainly a lot quicker.

lol at people still thinking there is much difference between our CBs
they are all 1 decent prem standard experienced defender alongside them from being just about acceptable at this level.

This has to be the first time Pearce has ever been described as quicker than anyone.

If Morrison isn't injured then I think you may be right. Although maybe even if he is Carrico can fill in at CB.

Pearce is terribly slow. Although he partly makes up for it by reading the game well. Morrison is easily quicker, but obviously not particularly quick compared to a lot of forwards. He lets himself get caught a little flatfooted sometimes and his positioning can be suspect, but that'll improve with time. He's shown good signs of being able to read the game well.

I think that he must have made his mind up that he wants to leave if/when we are relegated. Adkins, rightly so, doesnt seem to want to play a player that he knows wont be playing for us this season and that is why I agree that if morro is injured then Carrico will play rather than Pearce. He has had a good time at the club but this season he has looked slightly out of his comfort zone (like most players to be fair) and he definitely is not irreplaceable.

Him and Carragher waving at each other yesterday, seems to suggest he's already agreed to join Liverpool

Sidwell was at a time when we still had something to play for though (mainly). ANd indeed he was left out a few times towards the end of that season. I think Pearce should have been played more this season but considering it now does look like we're building for the Championship next year I can understand there's not much point including a player if you know he's not going to be here. (Obviously there might be others in that category where it's perhpas less clear cut.)

Why would Liverpool want a one-paced no-mark defender who can't even get into the worst team in the division?

the reason he isnt in the team is down to a contract issue, not because of his lack of talent.
He was one of the best players in the league last year.

Ideal And Gorkss was the best last year, and just like Pearce wasn't good enough this year. What on earth makes you think he'll be good enough for Liverpool?
FTR I disagree that the contract issue is the main reason he isn't playing. The main reason he isn't playing is that he's been utter shit, while Morrison and Mariappa have been better than him.

LOL at you comparing Gorkss to Pearce, AP is 24 and has a lot of potential where as Gorkss is 31 and has the pace of a disabled snail. He is not good enough to get into Liverpools starting 11 but it is clear he wants Premiership football and BR knows how good he potentially is.

Alex Pearce has not been utter shit, he hasn't played at the level you would of expected him to play at after his performances last year, but he has not been utter shit. Morro has been good and has scored more goals, but I wouldn't say he has had a much better season that Pearce. NA is trying to build a team for next season and Pearce wont be here so there is no reason for him to be playing.
