The Cube I probably will go, as I am in Tadley this weekend. Slightly irritated that there is nothing left to play for, in fact.

I will be hoping for a massive improvement on the last full Reading FC Women's match I watched at Didcot. It was early in the season and the players clearly had no idea of the names of their team-mates or what their strengths were. There had obviously not been even one training session where anyone paid attention.

You will see an incredible difference. They are an excellent team now - Kelly Chambers has engendered all of McDermott's famed team spirit but also got them playing the type of football that we hope we are going to see the men's team produce under Adkins. They have been streets ahead of every other team in the FAWPLS, evidenced by their GD to date of +40 and the fact that they look likely to win the league by a clear 8 points. Millwall played really well on Thursday but there was still only going to be one winner and that was The Royals.

Players to particularly look out for (and there are lots more very good ones too) are Lois Roche in the centre of midfield and Rebecca Jane and Fran Kirby up front. In the latter, RFC have a real star (19 goals in 12 starts in the league & 30 in all competitions). Nearest comparison (ignoring the differences in sex!) would be Jobi McAnuff with a lot more pace and loads of goals! A very exciting player to watch.

Things bode well for RFCW in Women's Super League 2 next season.

I wanted to bump this up because the girls played previously unbeaten Doncaster belles on Saturday who had only let in 6 goals all season. and came out 4-0 winners. outstanding result.
After beating Arsenal last year it looks like we really have a decent ladies team in the town now. 4 points behind second placed belles with 7 games to go , not sure if the top two go up to the super league because Sunderland are clear at at the top. have won nine and drawn two (once against Reading)

I'm pretty sure it's only the top spot go up, which is a shame really but understandable. I wouldn't mind seeing a play-off system like in Scotland.

Sadly I think you are right. Another case of the 'big' clubs doing their utmost to protect their closed shop. Unfortunately I fear that will also see Reading FC Women lose some of their biggest stars, in particular their new England star Fran Kirby (who has been with Reading from the age of 8) and who is by a very long way the top scorer in WSL1 & WSL2 this season.

Not only did the women thrash Doncaster but the week before came very close to beating Sunderland before ending up with a 1-1 draw.

For those who are open-minded enough to give women's football a chance, here are the goals from the Doncaster game:

Also England Women are playing Germany at Wembley Stadium on 23rd November. Fran Kirby is bound to feature for England, having made a real impact in her first couple of games for them. Early bird tickets are just £10.

Doesn't she work at the club, which might make her less keen on switching teams.

Don't think so (and if she is, it's only a part-time job) as she is currently studying for a degree in applied sports coaching science at Bucks New University. Furthermore, I suspect any of the big clubs would be happy to find her a job, if that is what it took to get her to transfer. Also, don't forget that the top players in WSL are also paid, not a lot compared to the men's or US women's game, but enough to get by on.

And talking of Fran Kirby she gets a starring role in this video:

Incidentally the whole premise of the video is wrong because England women played at the old Wembley at least once.

You are correct. Although to be fair to the FA they do mention that it is the first time that England Women have played at the new Wembley Stadium. However, the same excuse cannot apply to the BBC and their report as the presenter made numerous references to famous events that had taken place at the old stadium, including LiveAid, before referring to the fact that England Women will soon be playing there for the first time.

As for Fran, it was really nice to see someone who has been at the club since the age of 8 (IIRC) so clearly awestruck at the prospect of playing for England at Wembley Stadium in front of what promises to be a pretty decent size crowd.

I thought this was going to be a spin off thread for the chicks from Leon's one earlier about the bogs.

Well at least that guarantees us at least 1 more season of Fran Kirby at Reading: http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/article/kirby-turns-professional-131114-2082614.aspx :D

At last! We've finally made a decent signing!

Having finally secured our biggest star, perhaps Nick Hammond can now crack on and provide Nigel Adkins with the additions to the squad that he is looking for.

Apparently Fran will be training with the academy men - that should help sharpen up their defensive skills!

Don't think we should let Adkins anywhere near her training otherwise she'll just end up injured
