NattMiles Michael Hector has joined Aberdeen on a six month loan deal.

Makes sense. Suspect Gorkks will stay for the first half of the season and then will perhaps want to move on in which case Hector will hopefully do well and come back as fourth choice.

I'm a little disappointed that Hector's been loaned out again because I would've rather he was challenging on breaking through and by being a backup in case of injury and/or playing in the League Cup. I would've thought, like Morrison did, if the opportunity finally came, he'd make the most of it.

On the plus side, it may give Cooper a chance to push through a bit more than he would've done with Gorkss and Hector in front of him.

Hector gets MOM on his debut as Aberdeen beat FC Twente 2-0. Impressive start!

Mixed reviews? He got man of the match, they're hard to please. He isn't match fit and was thrown in at the deep end, so he was always going to look a little off the pace and slightly heavy footed. In the main they seemed pretty happy, and he looked to pass from the back rather than lump it forward, which is promising.

Can we have McGinn on loan as a striker from Aberdeen?

Apparently Hector scored a cracker for Aberdeen tonight

He did indeed, great strike. Slightly misplaced pass from the right wing in front of him, feint to shoot thrown with the left foot, turning back onto the right, bang, 22-23 yards out, keeper didn't move. Could probably say Partick defenders should have closed him down but fair play, as sweet a strike he could have wished for. And then he went and threw in an excellent assist for Aberdeen's fourth, received the ball from the keeper in the right back position, nice one-two down the wing, touch in front and cross on the run, Niall McGinn there to stroke home. Under very little pressure tbf but don't take anything away from him, crossing on the run onto a sixpence is not easy and he nailed it.

Without getting too carried away, he was a cut above anything else tonight. Defensively sound and a clear threat in attack. Looks ungainly, a bit gangly but don't be deceived, he can play. I can't see Pearce or Morrison doing what Hector did tonight any time soon!!

They rate him highly up here, have done since he first turned up this end of the world, has spent the last couple or so games on the bench but has gained a lot of experience playing in this SPL. Has been a good loan for him and they are keen for him to stay until the end of the season.
One of our old boys at Aberdeen is Jonny Hayes he is another one who has doing good at this level as well

I wonder if it's worth the club trying to strike up a formal relationship with someone like Aberdeen or Inverness to send some of our younger players out on loan?

It's a step up from League 1, Celtic and latterly Rangers aside, it's a reasonably competitive league and playing away at Parkhead or Ibrox would give you an experience you couldn't get in the English Leagues.

Loan report, including Hector's strike last night.

Other notes including Sheppard winning Shamrock's Young Player of the Year and some positive words on Matt Partridge.

Is it time Hector came back? Surely a better option that Gorkks? Probably a better footballer than Pearce and Morrison too. Definitely worthy of a spot on our bench.

Is he not better off getting games and developing than being on the bench?

He's also out of contract in the summer though. He might want to leave to get games. If we think he is that good of a prospect then it might be in our best interestse to try to blood him in.

With our paucity of cover at CB, never mind the recent poor form shown by the current incumbents, I would have thought it imperative that MH's loan is not extended in Jan, and he gets a new long-term contract. The team clearly needs more competition for places at CB.

Well lets hope he isn't enjoying life north of the border too much then as they will be able to sign him on a pre-contract at the start of Jan.

Judging by his tweets he is not enjoying the travel.
