leicsRoyal Blackman was a bit of a panic buy and was, probably still is, nowhere near top of the Championship level. It's not his fault we bought him and shouldn't be jeered or booed at any time.
He has found himself alienated from the fans purely because he is not able to perform consistently at this level. I would suggest that when he does have that decent 10 minutes then it would be wise not to alienate himself even further and bite the hand that feeds him.

I thought the jeering/booing/ironic cheers (call it what you like) on Wednesday night were pretty distasteful to be honest. As was the chanting for golden boy Le Fondre on a number of the occasions Blackman failed to deliver.

That doesn't really give Blackman the right to have a pop back at those fans who've travelled to watch the team play or the wider fanbase who effectively pay his wages.

It's typical of modern football though. He's not proven any of those doubters wrong by coming off the bench and notching a tap in. Come back when you've established yourself in the team with a consistent run of decent performances and a positive impact on a number of games and you might have a point.

In the meantime, get your head down and just do the job your paid to do.

MeMeMe Well, we weren't fantastic today but we did a very good job. And we still won... a very good sign.

Did you notice Blackmans non celebration after his goal, he just arrogantly stared at the fans as if to say "see that, up yours", at first I thought it was offside due to his reaction. However his goal had a very large slice of luck about it, and his only effort on goal in any form. 2 minutes after that he was muscled off the ball yet again. 1 swallow doesn't make a summer Blackman, or give you the right to act so arrogantly...O****rd off.

Despite the bad first touch he stil finished. Do one seriously. Get behind the players FFS! He did ok 2nd half on Wed anyway.

Do fans really think destroying a players confidence is the way to go?

I thought Blackman was our best player against Leeds on Wednesday. He doesn't deserve all the stick he gets and even when he scores there are people saying how lucky he was and giving him stick. Leave the lad alone.

Pleased he scored and hopefully he can build upon it, but he's still been largely awful. That said, it's a big step up from League One and hopefully he'll prove us all wrong.

No, confidence is a fragile thing with some people, but Blackmens attitude will only fuel the boo boys fire.

It's tard comments like "Do one Seriously" that show us all, players with attitude like Blackman and fans with with attitude should "Do one"

I think the appropriate response to the fans that booed him last game would have been for him to celebrate by sarcastically applauding those fans. Thing is were the fans who traveled to Derby today the ones who had booed him? Generally the boo birds tend to be the most plastic of the fans, and would probably not have traveled for this game. I can understand his frustration/anger with the idiots who jeered him but don't take it out on the wrong people...

Just sayin'...

He scored - he made his point in the best way possible, Jeering Reading "fans" need the reality check. We don't need you.

The best way possible?

He scored a goal that looked as if it was going to win an important away game and his reaction was to stare at the fans! A 100 metre sprint to hug McCarthy, a triple backflip before kissing Danny Guthries head, a Fosbury flop over the crossbar or just a celebration fitting with scoring such an important goal would have been a better way.

 @ Blackman - 50 extra press-ups for him in training this week, the players and fans are as bad as each other. Not exactly a decisive blow for him scoring after a poor first touch but what a childish reaction :|

RoyalBlue Whilst Blackman's reaction is was, to some extent, understandable it was also incredibly silly. He still needs to work hard to win over the supporters after a pretty poor start to his time at Reading (not his fault that he was selected, I suppose) and that sort of reaction will not help do that. If he doesn't play well in the next game, his critics will be on his back even more now.

EXactly. You can only respond like that if you're going to go on to be a Kebe.

Now his h8ers will be just waiting for him to screw up.

I bet he won't though. Everyone who's shown cockiness and arrogance has gone on to be great: Kebe, Mills, Guthrie, Curo...
