Ian Royal
sandman Federici

Cummings
Pearce
Gorkss
Kelly

McCleary
Williams
Guthrie
McAnuff
Obita

Pog

Subs: McCarthy, Cooper, Akpan, HRK, J Taylor, Sharp, Alf

Just so we know, how long do you plan to keep the 'joke' up?

In fairness at least McCarthy makes the bench.

Hardly a 'joke' to select one of the best goalkeepers in this league, who is a full international (as in he's played in internationals rather than being sat on the bench for a glorified holiday) and a Championship winner (a medal he got for playing on the pitch rather than being sat on the bench).

Plus, there's the whole thing where, unlike your hero McCarthy, Federici can actually kick the ball to his team mates and therefore suits your other hero Nige's style much better.

I want:

-----------------McCarthy-----------
Cummings--Pearce--Gorkss--Kelly
-----------Guthrie---Williams------
McCleary---------McAnuff---Obita
----------------Pogrebnyak---------

Subs: Federici, Cooper, Tshibola, Taylor, Drenthe/HRK, Sharp, Le Fondre

If Obita hadn't just scored a winning goal then I'd put Drenthe in.

I expect we'll get HRK ahead of McAnuff and a bench of Federici, Akpan, McAnuff, Drenthe, Blackman, Le Fondre and Sharp

It always amazes me how many people struggle to spell player's names correctly. They're on the back of their shirts and the big screen every week afterall.

Why do some people suddenly think Mcanuff is a left back?

I don't think anyone believes McAnuff is a left back, however our options there are very limited so it's not unreasonable to think that someone who does a good job defensively when playing left midfield may be able to drop a little bit deeper and still do OK.
Asking Cummings to play on the wrong side could also prompt the same question. It's not daft to think it's as easy for a left midfielder to play left back as it is for a right back to switch sides.

To be honest full back is a reasonably easy position to play, I would expect quite a few players would be able to sit there for one game and cope, provided they weren''t up against a red hot winger, that they weren't expected to do much overlapping and they got a bit of help from their centre backs and winger.

McAnuff himself said he thought he would end up as a left-back.

Personally I think he'd make a very good left back

Also think Karacan, when fit, would be a brilliant right back.

I think McAnuff said he might end up moving to fullback Snowball, not sure he meant left back though as he's right footed and I think he's said it whilst playing for us as an emergency right back a couple of times.

Carlos Edwards and Kevin Kilbane are two wingers who made similar switches towards the end of their careers and I think McAnuff would do a reasonable job there. Not sure I'd be too keen on him starting it on the left, but he's played left wing more than enough to be able to cope on that side.
