Big Tim Just watched Royston's free kick. The boy's coming good !

The reaction post goal is good to see, seems most of them do get on with Adkins

Must admit that the team selection had me mildly seething before the game, but tbf Nige got it spot on. The Wickham/McCormack duo would have been tough for Hector to handle and for the most part we looked very solid against them. Only when Smith came on did we look seriously troubled, but that was probably more to do with the fact they were playing 8 men up front by then. Hal did a really good job on his own up front as well, held it up well and offered a serious threat all game, unlike Alf who goes missing for 70% of the game.

Drenthe's revival continued with another sparkling performance. When he stepped over that free kick the whole away end knew what was about to happen. Great strike, and the team cuddle with NA was nice to see.

Obita MOTM again for me.

Chucking everyone up front is typical Mcdermott, and tbf if they were only two down it would have worked and he'd have been lauded as a tactical genius.

Well really enjoyed the football.

Suprised by the team selection. No strikers. :o
The first 70 minutes were as comfortable as you like. Leeds fans singing and screaming at their players "Your not fit to wear the shirt" booing their performance etc :D
First goal was a gift from a poor back pass and hesitation from the keeper.
Drenthes free kick absolutely brilliant.
Blackmans diving header
Kanus fantastic shot and goal
We really could have had more. They bought a big lump on up front who changed the game as Leeds went more and more direct. The atmosphere changed and their fans started getting behind the team (which was very vociferous) I started to get concerned and actually thought they would peg us back. We held out thank god.

The whole team played well. Gorkks and Pearce gave Wickham and McCormak diddly squat. They were very good.

When the Leeds fans where barracking the team I watched Brian. He looked totally demoralised. Listing to BBC leeds whilst stuck on the Fkin M1. I listened to his interview and the BBC leeds presenters. It is quite obvious that Leeds is a total shambles on and off the pitch. Sort of feel sorry for Brian. I guess his days are numbered.

Give me good old Wiggy any day.

Not sure I can feel sorry for any manager that takes on a job like Leeds or Cardiff at the moment. They know exactly what they're getting into with clubs like that and, although things have obviously taken a turn for the worse at Leeds recently, but it's nothing that wasn't likely to happen at such a club.

More importantly that was a great result for us last night and even better that Drenthe is starting to find his feet. He's obviously had a few issues getting on the pitch but he's taking his chance and showing the talent that made us take the gamble on him. I'm a bit gutted he's not been involved more as he's one of the few players in our squad that make the game worth watching.

Very heartening to see the sort of team spirit there is in the squad at the moment as well. I know it's easy to say that when you've just won a game and people are posting pics of the celebrations etc, but still good to see.

Ouroboros I thought we showed admirable resolve after we went down to 10 men.

Bravo.

agreed

but in the end looks like good management from adkins
tells him if he wants to play he needs to consistently prove it in training, and when he gets on to make it impossible for him to be left out again.
job done

Nothing to back it up but I wouldn't be surprised if the whole Drenthe "trurh will come out in due course" wasn't the club trying desperately to maouevre him out of the club to free up a few bob so Atkins could get in someone he really wanted as opposed to an Anton Folly. Just a hunch.

Went to Leeds a couple of years ago- Are we sat in a different place now?

Must admit I was sceptical about the team selection. If Jobi had scored as well I think the sky would have fallen in :)

Fair play to Nige. HRK was less likely to get bullied then Alf and it worked a treat.

Be interested to see Pog and HRK playing up front together, or would that not work?

winchester_royal Must admit that the team selection had me mildly seething before the game

How does mildly seething manifest itself? Does your mouth twitch at the corners? Shift around on your seat a little more than is usual?

IIRC it involved lots of muttering under the breath and a refusal to join in with the first "Nigel Adkins' barmy army" chant.

The all-too-representative rebuke of the Reading fan.

Did Kebe play last night? Was he as utterly MINCE as he was for 98% of his time at Reading?

Nope, dropped from the 18 entirely, which was unsurprising given the Leeds fans I spoke to were seriously considering going straight home if he'd walked out of the tunnel.

Apparently did his hammy in, so was out injured.

Although there are (spurious) rumours 5 players including Kebe, Stewart, Warnock and Peltier , a strip club and hangovers at training incurring the manager's wrath.

I wrote a blog post about Reading's inconsistencies.

Basically:

Last 13 wins - scored first in all
Last 11 draws/losses - conceded first in all
