How can anyone question SJM's ambition or motivation. He deserved nothing but respect.

As for no money for transfers... So what. That's no reason to start finger pointing at him. HE Wants to sell for the pure reason of finances... As he can't plough millions into the club.

He is an amazing man, part of RFC and the town and he deserves all the respect he gets

JM has done more for this club than almost any owner has in the rest of English Football. He sold to Anton which at the time thought was a good move, however he didn't foresee Zinga backing out and pissing off back to Russia.

Why would he take that risk again and give everything that he has built to some foreign owner who he is not 100% sure will take the club forward. At the moment I am sure he is doing everything he can to get some investment into the club but for the time being he is keeping us afloat and that's all we can ask for. It has been no secret that he has wanted to sell the club for a number of years but at no point during this time has he pulled the plug and stopped putting money in.

the only criticism we could have about Sir John would be the lack of spending after our first season in the Prem, at that time he should have spent some money to add some quality to the team that could have established us in the Premiership but we're over that.

I cannot believe the stick SJM is getting on here. Please make no mistake that without SJM we would now be in administration.

Over the years, despite saving us from the brink, funding the rise through the leagues, building a new stadium and adding stability, he is still slated. No matter what happens the RFC we have now would simply not exist without him. And i suspect many of the people slating him would not be following the little tin pot club would have and instead support a club in west London.

SJM has wanted to sell the club for the best part of a decade now. The reason he is still here is because he did not want to sell to any old person who would asset strip and leave us like Leeds/ Portsmouth etc. Fine in my book. Yet people are gagging for him to sell to anyone. May i remind you about our Russian saviour, people were delighted when he joined and ironically it was this very situation SJM was trying to avoid. He misjudged it, but he cares about the club too much to just let that happen. Yet if an equivalent to Anton can along tomorrow you would be clamoring for him to sell.

No one like losing or wasting money, not me, not SJM, not a billionaire.

SJM has done more for this club than anyone else. Be careful what you wish for.

If this is true then have to agree that SJM has lost the plot with negotiations to find a suitable buyer, why would someone put their money in without being able to put their own stamp on naming rights and having full ownership of hotel/stadium?

Its not as if the Madejski stadium has any real branding behind it!

OK so he did great things but could it be that, just as appears to be happening in many of his other businesses, he has lost his touch and things are starting to go seriously wrong?

Certainly a business person at the top of their gane would not have allowed the sale and sale agreement to have been screwed up in the way that it very clearly has.

Roger Smee was very definitely a hero and without any doubt at all saved the club from immediate death. However, his other businesses started to get into trouble and he decided that he had to sell the club to concentrate on putting them right. I seem to remember that situation also had a detrimental effect on the club In his latter days of his spell in charge.

And is anyone asking John Madejski to spend all his money on the club. Just a bit would be a nice start. Some will say he hasn't got the money but did he end up getting nothing off the Russian shysters?

As for league one/third tier, the way we are currently drifting without effective engine and rudder, we could pretty soon be back there.

I don't often agree with Tim Dellor but I think he might well have been right when he said that, even if the club still had some forward momentum, ihat momentum wasn't as great as the other clubs around us and therefore in relative terms we were falling behind.

If you're interested in buying a hotel and the current owner wants to keep living there rent free, then it can be. That space can be converted into further income for the hotel. What you wont want is an old man living rent free upstairs.

And in doing so, please don't forget that there were other parties interested in buying us at the time Roger Smee was looking to get out. Also, I believe that at various times since he bought the club other parties had expressed an interest in joining in with Madejski but back then he wanted to keep his 'toy' to himself.

As it is, thanks to his desperation to sell and incredible cockup in the way that he/his advisors structured the deal/sale agreement, we could still end up in administration.
