Guthrie and HRK are apparently going to be back by then though so maybe they'll feature.

Looks too lightweight. There's no holding player in front of the centre backs.

Do we even have any holding midfielders?

Karacan likes to think of himself as a playmaker, but he's better defensively.

I think there's a bit of an unnecessary obsession with holding midfielders. The way we play you don't need one. Two players who are capable of hassling and keeping the ball moving when we've got it are absolutely fine.

We didn't need a holding midfielder in 2005. There's lots of successful combinations in football, there's no one formula that you can build and just win success with.

Having the right player in that position makes such a difference to the team as a whole. Covers up a whole range of deficiencies as well.

By holding I mean a player with physical presence that can tackle or simply hold the play up. Without committing silly fouls.

SPARTA Blackman and Robson-Kanu are back to give Fulham a boost.

I saw a bloke with "Blackman 22" on the back of his replica shirt on the way here today. I thought my flabber could not be more ghasted, but there's another bloke with "Robson-Kanu" on his shirt a few seats away from me.
