Glory Boy It created an atmosphere and served its purpose for the cup matches and there it should endeth.

The Delilah song for Stoke had an impact when it was first sung but it seems so jaded and boring now.
The Delilah song was the creation of the fans, when the fans stop singing it that's when it's laid to rest.... whereas, we have to keep listening to the same songs until the play button breaks in the control room. It's not just Sweet Caroline, but the annoying air raid siren and the voice over of the guy saying something inaudible just before it.

can you hear that? its the sound of Paul Allen furiously vvanking himself off at the thought of being able to shout his timeless catchphrase again next season. It makes him feel so masculine, so alive.
All the while, his chronies high in the west stand lineup the playback with hairs on end, ready to whip the crowd into frenzy. cue air raid sirens, "where it began"... fapfapfap, "arent we so fcking incredible, WE make this place ROCK. "

Granny flid and uncle spack, rollover in hand, stand in their seats, a tear in the corner of their eye. And who can blame them, such passion, such raw emotion. "DUN DUN DUN" "yes. THIS. THIS is why we renewed our season tickets.

im drunk.

I love reading all the comments on this forum. First we have threads where people are moaning about the lack of atmosphere at matches, then whenever the club try to generate a bit of enthusiasm and atmosphere we have threads moaning about that. It would seem the club are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
We really do have the most miserable fans in the country. I bet none of you lot put your free shirts on at Wembley either.

You must bit a little simple FaithfulSon. An atmosphere is very very different to manufactured karaoke and rumblestixxx. there are tried and tested ways to create a genuine atmosphere, none of which Reading fc employ. But if you want to do some mongdiv singstar, its your prerogative.

Absolutely nothing that he said warranted an ill-mannered load of tripe from you. In fact, he says a lot that is good sense, so maybe you should take a long hard look in the mirror and see who is the simple one.

:D
BR2 I'm one of the grumpy old gits and am now fed up with the manufacturing of atmosphere.
Caroline feels ancient and I don't want that PA twat screaming URRRRRZZZZ at the start of every game and I resent that the announcer told us to remain in our seats to appreciate the players at the end of the last game.
If I want all of this I'll go to Butlins or a karaoke night.
Oh for the days of clapping, no singing and players courteously shaking hands when they score a goal plus hats being thrown in the air in jubilation, oh and no stinking burgers or hot dogs but the aroma of bovril in the air.
While we are at it I also hate the tatooed players with mohican haircuts and stupid goal celebrations ( not that we see many of those from our players this season) plus multi-coloured boots and adverts on shirts (Danny Guthrie fits the bill on most counts other than scoring any goals).
I gather that brylcream is on the way back so at least a step in the right direction.

Spot on!

I'd be very interested in reading your list of tried and tested ways of creating an atmosphere Biff (I'm guessing they involve standing up, swilling 15 pint of lager and bemoaning that anyone who doesn't do likewise isn't a real supporter). For the record I'm not a fan of Sweet Caroline. If a club has "It's own song" it is normally generated by the fans, not the club but ours are so apathetic that's never going to happen. Or perhaps you could get one going as you know how it's done?

Thanks for coming to my defence West Coast Man but I'm afraid as you obviously sit in the West Stand, Biff probably doesn't regard you as a real fan either

Nowhere did I say you aren't a real fan. But you're a lesser fan than I. 8)

I wonder if a few Rotherham fans will sit under their blankets in their equivalent of the north stand chanting "OFF OFF OFF OFF we want to clap our players around the pitch!!!11!" ala RFC? Leave spontaneous raw emotion with your bottle lids at the turnstile please,

This, plus all the staff at Rotherham who will not allow these fans to see the players and celebrate to make a point about pitch invasions only to use a photo of it in PR material.
