I wonder why people are so surprised he has signed a new deal, he was decent last year at times but remember we also regularly conceded 2+ goals a game. He needs to continue at this level, get a bit more experience before moving up to a high league.

I'm glad he doesn't have a dickhead agent trying to push for a big money move.

sandman Can't say I'm a big fan of Hector but at least the club are showing some intent.

Interested as to why you're not a fan of his? Comfortable on the ball, good passer, had a blinder against Arsenal. Pretty much everything Pearce isn't, and he'll get better and better.

He can pass and he had one good match? Is that all you can do?

Hector is a promising player, still a long way off being as good as Pearce but he'll probably be a better player in two years. He has some issues with positioning (where Pearce is excellent) and concentration (again) and making silly fouls (again). He also loses possession more often than Pearce because he plays a lot of over-ambitious passes; this is a mixed blessing, because sometimes those passes will set up dangerous attacks (I think a big part of the reason our attacking play was so flat under Clarke was the absence of Guthrie or Norwood playing expansive passes). He's getting better, but at the start of the season he was a penalty waiting to happen.

I am very happy with this announcement. Best case scenario, we've got three years to convince him to sign another deal. More likely, we get a proper transfer fee when we sell him next summer, at the perfect time for Rob Dickie to break into the side. Worst case scenario, he goes the way of Sonko and we're paying him a moderate wage for three years. On balance, definitely a Good Thing.

People seem to be missing how the key part of this signing is the fact we can sell him on in January for a respectable fee

He had an exceptional season and grew with every game. For someone on here to say they don't think much of him is quite frankly bizarre.

Poor concentration mainly. He does one good thing and then immediately follows it up with three bad. Also dragged out of position too often and gives away too many needless free kicks.

Hopefully he will improve like we all hope he will.

Edit. So basically what SCIAG said.

You could easily be describing Alex Pearce there, but add penalties as well.

Hector gives away twice as many fouls as Pearce. 0.7 per match from Pearce, 1.4 for Hector.

In fairness, Hector also goes in for more tackles.

Which again points to poor decision making and concentration.

Are you guys watching the same player. At the start of the season he was making mistakes and giving away too many free kicks. Since SC
joined he has eradicated most of the mistakes and is twice the player he was, he's good in possession and happy to bring the ball out

Can't remember having seen a professional player with such a poor judgement of the flight of a ball before.
Granted, he played a blinder at wembley and will improve but generally I'm a bit indifferent to this news.

If he now leaves in january we don't get a penny, is that right?

I would imagine it's quite the opposite and we'd get an incredibly large amount of pennies.

Coppelled_Streets Best signing of the summer. Now watch us sell him next summer for £6m to fill the black hole. It's the Reading Way after all.
