Now if only people had listened to me and a couple of other posters the day he was appointed and also on the shambles that was transfer deadline.

He is not a manager.

I've seen this several times. Dellor had a part to play in getting Clarke the sack? Bollocks - he just said what everyone was saying and asked whet everyone wanted asking. Clarke got the sack by being rubbish at managing a football team - the press didn't hound him out.

Lol at the idea of Tim Dellor being able to hound anyone out.

blueroyals Wasn't Steve Coppell at the game last night? Time for his return

Indeed he was, albeit i reckon he just came in to confirm to Madejski it was time for a change!

SJM: are you interested?
SC: yes
Steve Clarke sacked first thing the following morning

Co-incidence... :?:

Part of me thinks he wanted to be sacked, perhaps looking for a pay-off after realising his summer signings were all shit?

Playing players out of position, not dropping players who are out of form, asking to talk to clubs lower down the table and the apathetic press conferences, all very strange...

Fcuk you. Ya know when you think you're over someone, then you see them, and it brings all those feelings back? You know it's wrong, but it feels so right. That's what happened to me last night. I either really want to fcuk him, or want him back as manager. Maybe even both.

I know it'd probs be a massive mistake, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

Ady would surely claim some responsibility, didn't hear BBCRB last night but people were praising him for pushing the questions at Clarke.

Shame how it all went really but SC only has himself to blame IMO. I, like most (?), was optimistic when he first came in but this run of form/awful performances teamed with the Fulham debacle totally obliterated any confidence I once had - amazing the difference a couple of months makes!

Bye Clarkey, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

As if the club care what the local radio station think. Maybe Ady and Tim knew that he had a game to save hinmself, but there's no way the club would react on the back of some harsh but fair questions.

What a strange twelve months.

I didn't think he took us forwards last season. I was won over (as were most other doubters, I'd imagine) by our form at the start of the season. For the last month, we've been dreadful.

What's Clarke's win record like compared to Adkins? And what happens if you take out the matches Tshibola started?

I don't really want Pearson or Parkinson. Don't think Coppell would be interested. Let's appoint someone and stick with them regardless for at least two years. Viveash would be my pick, assuming Moyes and Rodgers are not interested.

Hopefully that'll see the end of Beasant as well. Worst goal keeping coach in RFC history. Never known our keepers to make so many mistakes.....and that includes Simon Sheppard.

Bit pissed off that he turned Fulham down now - means we have to pay him off instead of receiving any compo

I personally can't believe that Reading have sacked Steve Clarke. A point outside the play off places with plenty of points to play for. What do the club and the spoilt brat fans expect from the club?

The club have always been a lower division side until recent years. A fair to middling/competitive team in the Championship is a gr8 achievement from where the club came from.

Yes - you may say he lost the fans/players respect following the Fulham situation. But who made that information public? Was it the club? Or Clarke? Either way - it should have remained behind closed doors. The handling of the scenario was very poorly done. If you or I went for a job interview elsewhere whilst still employed by another company the matter would be kept to yourself until, if and when you were successful and decided to move jobs

A step backwards IMO. nearly got a very good Leicester side relegated, look what they are doing this year under new leadership

Oh well.

I was a big fan of Clarke, thought he made us more solid which was needed, and also oversaw a massive shift in playing staff, which was also needed after a few years of drifting from mediocre to poor due to zingaravich's mess. assembled a good squad, and showed what could be done with them in the first chunk of the season.
Have no real problem with him chatting to other clubs- though the choice of Fulham seems strange.
but the manner in which it was done/came out basically soured any good will he had from the fans and board, and once that happens only results could save him, and from the way the players played, in the last few games show that either theyre not with him, or hes not capable of pulling their poor form/confidence around.

shame, but hed made his position untenable.
its just a shame we are going to have to pay him up on his contract, and he will get more money from Fulham now as they wont have to pay us anything to get him.
if I was into conspiracies id say that he ruined our form intentionally.
