John Madejski's Wallet
Ian Royal
Platypuss Starts today.

Largely plays wide left and is an empty shirt again.

Far better than McCleary today though.

We were pretty much playing with 10 men once Piazon went off. McCleary was woeful

I didn't think either offered anything.

Not suited to this league whatsoever really. He's showed some fantastic glimpses but cannot seem to handle to tough tackling nature of the division.

Funny I thought we were playing with ten men with Piazon on the pitch.
I was pleased to see him replaced.

You are right though about Mcleary. He made little difference, if any.

Left wing isn't really his position. Better than John in the starting 11.

Doesn't get a lot of protection from some dog awful referees tbf, not sure he fits in BM's dream team

It's not just that though, he's just not combative enough in a 50/50. In fact he'd probably lose an 80/20, even if it was in his favour. I understand where it's come from, he probably had a lot more protection in a much less physical league when he grew up in Brazil, but I just can't see him working here.

He might not thunder into tackles, but his touch and movement are good. I still think he has the ability to unlock a defence either with a little pass or get into a decent position himself. But it is all a bit sporadic and not consistent enough at this level. I was surprised he didn't play in the hole today behind Kermogant but Brian clearly had a game plan with three proper central midfielders, so couldn't fit him into a more central role.

He has quality and potential, but only shown in flashes.
In general hes pretty lightweight.

But hes growing on me.certainly worked hard yesterday.

With the imbalanced squad full of misfiring wingers and number 10s is it any wonder brian is trying out dufferent ways to get the best out of em all.

Agree with this. Looked loads better than McCleary

Will probably start against West Brom as well, given Kermogant is cup tied and Vydra could still be injured
