Parkinson has repeatedly failed at this level. It's one thing appointing a coach who hasn't had much managerial experience, another appointing a lower-league manager who has shown he can't cut it.

Pearson needed to spend huge sums of money to get Leicester promoted, and once there he had them languishing in the relegation zone for months. As soon as he got sacked, they won the league. He might actually be one of the better candidates available, but he's half the manager that McDermott is.

On the basis we're making choices based on no knowledge of anything relevant, the two that would be exciting options would be Bryn or Giggs.
Of the two I'd opt for Bryn for a raft of reasons. Ranging from he seems a nice bloke to I can't think of another Icelandic manager who has managed in this country,
Giggs would give us a huge profile and we'd sign lots of decent young players but he'd just be marking time ahead of getting a bigger job (OK, so are all managers) and frankly the shambles at United in recent years has to be at least partly down to him. What has he shown that suggests he would be a decent coach / manager.

Why has Pearson not found another job despite being touted as the new Matt Busby by some ?

As we are now the Leeds United of the South, I predict that we will re-hire Brian McDermott in the next couple of days as our manager.

Stoke had an Icelandic bloke in charge.

Matt Busby never found another club either...

OK, that's Bryn off the list.
IIRC Shankley never got another job after his time at Liverpool and Fergie is still job hunting too.....

I would choose Stam or Bergkamp over Giggs, assuming we can't get Pearson or anyone better.

That's a bit harsh on Parkinson IMO.

At Hull he was only given until December to improve a team that finished 18th the season, which he didn't but that was a tall order at the time.

He took Charlton down yes, but, a bit like McDermott, he took over a side in trouble and just couldn't turn it around.

Lol @ at indifferent brigade.

I'm incredulous at the change, but I still care who we get in and I'll still be attending matches next year.

Golden rule great players rarley make great managers. So forget Berkamp and Giggs.

It's got to be Coppell for me. But he won't be able to work under the Thai gross incompetence.

I don't think any manager will be able to succeed within our current set-up. League One is another step closer for us and our relegation next season is looking very likely at the moment. I would say that it is now only 50/50 as to whether we can stay up next season. In a division of 24 clubs, that is the bleakest it has looked for us in a while.

The answer is going to be someone who signs who the board tell him to.

That will rule a few out.
