Simon's Church After all the money spent in the summer, you do wonder how we're starting games with an 11 so lacking in technical quality and pace. Meite and puscas may well be the clumsiest strike force in the division.
Not sure how far we have to drop before olise and Barrett are given a proper chance.

I think Olise must be considered.

Subjective opinions

However, what we have is the potential to kick-on (unlike in previous seasons).

We have a team that is under performing...yes

Needing a kick up the arse ....yes

But capable of winning this league?......well yes...it won’t happen obvs.

A change of management....with this talented squad, what’s the point? Nobody knows them better than Jose

Mate. I think you are over estimating how talented this squad really is.

Way way way overestimating it, but then Cardiff, West Brom and Huddersfield made us all do it.

Although Spizz obviously didn't feel the bump when we all fell back down to earth.

We have some skilful players but are very naive. We really lack technical ability upfront.

Feeling a little depleted and cheated since the Cardiff game tbh

It's a good squad when they work hard. It's a poor squad when they don't. We seem to specialise in signing players who look good for 2-3 games, then fade away.

Puskas is a good player, for example, but looks mediocre at the moment. There was a real spirit of togetherness among the players for the second half of last season. It doesn't seem there now.

I certainly agree about the spirit of togetherness last season. That’s gone,

I’m not accepting Loader, Joao, Meite, Puscas and Baldock are not good players who would thrive in the right environment and set up

Another post match interview where Jose says we "deserved to win". I don't want him gone but I wish he would stop saying that it's driving me mad. You can't say we deserved to win with 46% possession and three shots on target. Yes we made chances but never really looked like finishing them. There is a difference between "deserving to win" and not being able to finish and at the moment we aren't able to finish. If you can't finish you don't deserve to win plain and simple. I hope he is just putting on a brave face and doesn't actually believe what he is saying..he needs to admit the weaknesses in the side and say they are working on them rather than going on about what is "deserved". Interview here: https://youtu.be/nBvYGA0fntw

We lack organisation throughout the team this particularly manifests itself in the ongoing defensive shambles.

Gomes came with a reputation for teams not being defensively tight and we’re seeing that now.

I’m old fashioned as I think you build a team from the back and through the spine. Ie get the defensive function first then add the glitter.

We have the players to do that I just don’t think Gomes is minded to.

I don’t want us to keep sacking managers but unless he can form a cohesive team that does all the functions required pretty fcuking quick he should go.

Why do we keep picking the wrong people?

Stop talking sense Leon

We have Jose...let’s stick with him...and see it through

Ian has seemingly got his sub-normal head-down after his disgraceful comment about Yiadom...so if it’s conflict that you are after...try again tomorrow

No fair enough, none bar Meite have played well for us. But the other 3 (plus Boye who I seem to always forget) have track records whilst Loader has been lauded for a while. They are a lot better than what they are showing imo

And you can see why. Chopping and changing, not playing to strengths. Why would you play Joao/Puscas up front without wingers? Defies logic. Meite similar - tbf he has done ok this season but it seems in spite of the system. As I’ve bored on about before - the one striker who seems genuinely to suit the system - Baldock - seems to have been binned entirely

When you faff around on the edge of the box, it’s difficult to score. We don’t score Bristol’s goal because the cross wouldn’t come in. We’d pass it around the box and eventually lose it. The way to scoring is getting it in the mixer. Our strikers are poor at this moment but it isn’t helped by the lethargic play by others, in particular Yiadom and Ejaria

I’d just like us to win some games of football by being vaguely competent.

Im increasingly of the view that being defensively sound throughout the team will get you a long way in the championship. It’s not the sort of league where you can wing it by relying on your strikers.

The lack of wingers is ridiculous. Playing wing backs is not an adequate alternative. We concede so many goals from our flanks and score so few from them.
