Dr_Hfuhruhurr I think Obita going to another club might be good for both of us.
For whatever reason, he needs to restart his career and for the right club, he is going to be a great buy if they can keep him healthy.
I rate the guy, but we need to trim the squad.
If we genuinely think we are going to get 35+ games out of him next season then, yes, a contract is in order. If not, for whatever reason, we should look to trade.
I rate him highly, by the way, but he's not a certain starter for us.

Pepe the Horseman In terms of goals and assists, he's had his best ever season for us, having played fewer games. Give him a year with an option for extension if he can stay fit.

Old Man Andrews But you can replace them with younger guys from lower down the leagues on much less per week. Obviously not ideal but it cut costs on the wages which is what we need right now.

URZZZZ Would be fine as a backup LB next season but shouldn’t be playing any further forward, doesn’t offer enough as a midfielder

Snowflake Royal I think it's safe to say offering him a contract has to be on affordable terms.
If he rejects that and takes his chances fair enough. But we should be offering unless we already know that there's a huge difference between what we'd offer and what he'd accept.
But is he really going to get a better deal elsewhere? Especially given any transfer is a risk for him.

yeah, which was the point i made earlier in the thread. Can't see many offering him a decent deal in post Covid football. Thousands will be ooc in line with massive cost savings across the board, and he is a gamble with his injury
A pay as you play type deal might be the way to go for both parties really
