Brogue Andrew sounds like a fcuking idiot

Your plan. Play the first team against Peterborough. Lose narrowly then a tired team loses to Cheltenham and Exeter. Nil points.

My plan. Preserve the first choice players. Lose against Peterborough but beat Cheltenham and Exeter - 6 points.

But I suppose that makes me an idiot. Happy Christmas.

If we rest players against Peterborough is it then guaranteed we beat Cheltenham and Exeter? Are they going to concede both games?

These are supposedly highly trained athletes, they should be able to play Saturday - Tuesday - Friday evening sucessfully.

These highly trained athletes should be able to play Christmas Day and Boxing Day, Less trained ones did it many years ago! With less training, heavier boots and ball, worse playing surfaces etc.etc. The players these days must be much fitter than those were.

You are aware that Cheltenham and Exeter play on Boxing Day too?

The thing about being fitter, is you're playing closer to the edge of what's possible and you're more likely to break

Yeah and players weren’t covering the distances that players today do.

Cheltenham and Exeter have as many fixtures as we have over Christmas so what makes you think we'll lose to Cheltenham and Exeter if we play a full strength team at Posh? Peterborough really aren't all that and were lucky to beat us on the opening day tbh we have nothing to fear.

Our players travelling on the day isn't ideal. Fortunately it's not a very long journey so I hope they leave at 7-7.30am so they're in Peterborough by 10am latest, gives them some time to stretch/discuss game plan before getting the coach to the ground. So not having an overnight stay shouldn't impact us too much for this fixture given it's not a trek.

It's not an away game that I'd have liked on a Boxing Day, I'd have preferred to swap Cheltenham with Posh if I'm honest.

I'm expecting a pretty much unchanged team.

You watch old games and everything is played at such a slow pace in comparison.

I actually like Andrew's plan. What he's saying is that we take a little hit now to be fitter and better prepared for our next fixtures.

What he's proposing is a footballing vaccine

Surprised Smith’s on the bench, but maybe not fully fit. Big opportunity for Ehib as he hasn’t had many minutes recently.

Seems only four players (Holmes; Azeez; Knibbs; Ehib) who started against Peterborough on the opening day start today; one (Savage) is on the bench.

You'd think if you were going to rest your striker, you'd have given his back up more than just injury time in one of the last 3 matches so he was ready to step in.

Assuming Smith didn't tweak something and is on the bench as a precaution.

Still a pretty good idea to have your only other striker maintaining match sharpness.

Hopefully Azeez, Wing or Knibbs can play off him then. They're all in good goalscoring form.

I think we're doing alright so far, against an in-form side.

Can see us losing it quickly though when they score, which is looking likely.
