RoyalBlue Whilst trawling through my books to find 'flatgate', I found something else I had forgotten about.

Apparently Steve Death remembered nothing at all of the game in which his record clean sheet run came to an end with a Stewart Henderson own goal. Apparently he was concussed in a collision immediately before the ball crossed the line. However, typically he played on for the remainder of the game (wouldn't happen nowadays thank goodness) but couldn't remember a thing about it.

So how long is Reading's clean sheet record before an opposing player actually managed to score past Reading?

Not much longer because that game ended 2-2!

Just found a biography of the late John Sainty who passed away in 2023 aged 77. Written by John and Neil Vacher.

Last Man Standing, from Saint to Saints and Beyond, published by Pitch Publishing with a recommended price of £25. But is around £20 on Amazon.

Sorry - old person here - I have a newspaper clipping from the Brentford game but how can I display it here?
FAQ says I need to save the image onto a public website. Is Facebook an option?

Sorry, I've spent too long being encouraged by Dai, Pang & Howe to develop a very strong streak of cynicism! The only good thing about that is that I am likely to be a little less disappointed if this one goes the same way as the others and absolutely delighted if something positive actually comes from it!

Sutekh Buy it at the Peterborough game

https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/news ... ok-launch/

Can't come down to the game on Sat so my copy has just arrived.

Had a very quick flick through and this is a must have for any fans who watched us in the 1970's with loads of ex players contributing and many local journos from back then and members of Steve's family. The expected games are included such as Man U in Watney Cup, Arsenal FA Cup, Port Vale record game, but some other interesting ones such as the Wolves cup game from 1978 when we knocked out a first division side when in tier 4. Good size read too at 250 pages.

+1 excellent book, full of anecdotes and snippets on the other players and managers that were with Reading.

Poor Jimmy Wallbanks, for instance, got a rollicking from the West Ham physio for not spotting that Stuart Morgan had a broken ankle. Stuart and Steve were still living in East London at the time and the team coach dropped them off after the game leaving Steve to CARRY the 6’2” 13st Morgan home on his back!
