Don Finch
Woodcote Royal I could handle none of our idiot fans getting a seat on the board, definitely.

If being an idiot is actually wanting the team to win something rather than eternal limbo, then I'm guilty as charged. Just because there's so much money in the game doesn't mean you [the fan] have to think that way.

If you see the progress this club has made since the day the Chairman arrived (In case you've forgotten, his mission statement was get this club up to the top flight :? ) as being in a state of "limbo" then, yep, that makes you an idiot.

In my view, being prepared to toss away everything we've strived so hard to achieve over the last 16 years in search of some silverware, makes you an idiot of the first degree.

I know, lets leave the Mad Stad to the Irish, co habit down at Scours Lane and have a serious tilt at bringing the Berks & Bucks Cup home to the Royal county. After all, it's not all about money.............................would that make you happy, Sir?

More to do with putting the berk in Berkshire - and you are guilty as charged.

Your over reaction to someone wishing for glory is patently ludicrous.

Don Finch Winning the F.A.Cup this season but getting relegated

or

Survival in the Premiership, say 10th place.

What would you choose?

Going back to the original question - Woody is going off on one.......

It would have to be the survival in the Prem.

However, bending the question slightly we do have a realistic chance of both. Tomorrows game against Wigan is key, win that and so on to 37 points and then safety is all but assured. If there was a choice of getting to the final and finishing 16th or going out and finishing 8th then I would take the glory. This could be the year.

£48 Million earned from survival in Premiership
£1 Million earned from winning FA Cup

It's a no brainer really.

MiniRoyal What if we've got another 7-9 points by the next round? Do we go all out for the cup with a full 1st team?

Nail hit squarely on the head - 6 points from our next 3 games and we hit 40. We will be safe with 40 points. Then we can start concentrating on giving the FA cup our best shot.

Obviously this goes out of the window if we draw Man Yoo away at 1:30.

savage 4 england Wouldn't mind a semi-final or final. Doesn't matter if we win.

A good league position wouldn't go a miss.

Both possible.

Of course it is important to win the FA Cup. This is the first final at the New Wembley Stadium, the media will go on about the first winners for the next 50 years.

Top 6 finish quite possible as well.

According to the Sun today, Bennett is a done deal 250k.

Take each game as it comes, win each game.

I want us to win the FA Cup, of course I do, but at this point in the history of our football club with the major changes coming in this summer with regards to the TV deals and the money involved:

IF it were a straight choice between winning the cup and relegation, or staying up, then it is a no-brainer - we have to stay up. We could win the cup next season or in three years time whilst remaining a Premiership side, lose our status and there is a good chance we may not return to the top flight for many years, if at all.

Luckily we are in a position to do both this year and should go for the cup now - that brings in the debate of whether we could cope with a UEFA Cup place next season but that's for another day.

Woodcote R, have a word with Stranded to see if he's got a few hours spare to explain how to form a well rounded response without resorting to name calling - we could even be friends then.... I'm obviously not alone in my opinion on this matter. Nobody wants to see Reading go down, but similarly, what is the point of sitting in the Prem for years doing nothing - that's the limbo I'm talking about, we haven't had it yet.

The joy at winning the FA Cup will last forever, Joy at surviving in the Premiership will only lasts until the next season kicks off.

Does it though? Pride in winning it yes, joy - not so sure.

Ask many Bury or Bradford fans if they still feel the joy of winning the FA Cup - I'm sure they'll be proud there club had won it but would trade it in in a heartbeat to be where we are.

They are still talking about the Bolton West ham final of 1923, so that's 84 years!

But those are Bury/Bradford fans who probably wouldn't have been alive when it was won - they can only have pride.

I'm sure anyone who was actually around to see their club win it still have the joy and pride.
