That's right, don't worry that he has made over 10 assists this season and had many MOM awards.

Fabregas would be my pick. Absolutely fabulous player. congrats to Doyle on his nomination. I can't believe that some people on here are so jaded that they even manage to sneer at Doyle being on the list. It's a fantastic bit of recognition for player and club regardless of his chances of winning.

Being "surprised" isn't remotely like "sneering".

Wycombe Royal No, it should be for young players (ie under a certain age when the season starts) regardless of how many appearances they have made in the Premiership before..

Why ?
There is nothing special about a 22 year old with 150 appearances playing well - he can go for the main award.
If you have a second award then make sure it is for a very different set of criteria. Young players with no previous experience deserve special recognition and 'Young Player' awards for thelikes of Rooney are pointless.

Wycombe Royal Oh, hang on, that is the criteria already...

Indeed, hence the suggestion that they should be different.

Wycombe Royal Both Lennon and Richards have also made a significant number of Premiership appearances before this season, and Doyle was not under 22 when the season started.

So ?

Then write to the PFA and suggest a new category of best newcomer then.

Why should it? It has been the same criteria for years and is the same criteria that is used by many football federations.

It was just commenting that based on your criteria none of the players nominated would probably be eligible.

I'm happy that Doyle was nominated, makes me feel a bit proud for him and the club too.
So what if he doesn't win.

Huntley & Palmer
spickroyal
Huntley & Palmer He doesn't stand a sniff. I'm even surprised he has been nominated

Have to agree. Whilst it must be an honour for him to be nominated, he is arguably bottom of that list. Hmmm, maybe not quite bottom, I think Richards is a little overated personally.

How old is Matty Taylor? Does he still qualify as 'young'
Matty Taylor is 25, not sure if that still qualifies him as 'young' I would guess it doesn't.

As we did with the Fed poll - email the link to everyone in your address book and ask them to do the same and so on.
Doyle can win this yet! 8)

SpaceCruiser If they had an award for best newcomer to the Premiership, Doyle would win it hands down..... ;)

Happy for him. No chance of course, especially with the lengthy break with injury but great all the same.

must be said that he doesnt have a chance really of getting it above rooney and the likes of arjen robben because they are bigger clubs. oh well doyler has had an excellent season and we all know that.

If Doyle hadn't been injured and carried on his early season form and got 20 goals he might stand a chance, but the fact is he doesn't deserve it because Ronaldo and Rooney have had better seasons.

I think he deserves it more than players like Richards, Fabregas and Lennon though. Richards has been nothing special, Lennon has looked brilliant in patches and Fabregas started well then went through a three month spell where he was at best mediocre. Only in the last few games has he started playing well.

Ronaldo>Rooney>Doyle>Lennon>Fabregas>Richards.
