Can't help thinking this is the wrong tournament for us.

Maybe if we had had 2 or three games before we went.

I'm sure Sir Steve will be telling the players not to worry too much about the results which is probably not good either.

As long as we can come through with no injuries and sign a couple of Lyons players I will be happy though

I know it's only a friendly and the result is not important, but I'd love it, LOVE IT, if we beat the French.

Friendlies against crack continental opposition are the stuff of dreams. 2-0 to the French and reports of an exploding weatherman in the county of Devon.

I predict a good workout for the Royals and an improvement in their fitness ready for the new season.

These games can only be better for us than, for example, playing 4th division amatuer opponents in Sweden!

Quite a strong Lyon line up, against a mixutre of reserves and youths with a few first teamers thrown in?

Lyon 3 - 1 Reading

Again, not too fussed as long as we put in a decent performance and don't pick up any injuries.

That said, 2-0 Lyon

I was thinking 4-3-3 when I first looked at it

Hunt, Cisse and Harper in midfield, then.

Well it's certainly "experimental"!
