Dunne's a fantastic centre-back and I was convinced he alone would keep the score 0-0. I had a perfect view of the tackle on Hunt, and it was a typical cracker from Dunne. Absolutely no fault of Hunty that Dunne got injured, and I have to say that it's always a pity when such a good, honest player tough-tackling player like Dunne gets injured. Absolutely typical of him to try to play on with it. Good to see it's not as serious as first thought.

(Especially as we need him to help Citeh take points off our rivals)

It was Dunne's own fault! Dunne went in totally reckless, just like Gazza did years ago, and wound up injuring himself!
He deserved it, it was his own fault, and he could have seriously injured Hunt if it had been just slightly different.

If Dunne is out for the season then he can only blame himself for attempting to take out Hunt in such an awful way.

Oh. Maybe the tackle I thought he injured himself with wasn't the one. Apologies if I'm wrong, but I thought it was the one on our left that went out for a throw? If it was the one I'm thinking of, my opinion (with a clear view from near the front, East Stand Y25) was that it was a superb tackle by Dunne. No complaints from Hunt either.

Watch the TV replays. You'll see a tackle where he goes in with straight legs. Players have been sent off for less - Gunnarsson was sent off for a similar tackle, and he did not even make contact.
It should have been a straight red.

I take it that it was that tackle than? I will be watching MoTD, natch, and I stand to be corrected (although, meeja as specious controversy mongers conspiracist that I am, I tend to the view that even some decent tackles can be made to look bad if slowed down enough). Maybe I'm just an old-fashioned guy; I remember when every other tackle was like that. Anyway, like I say I stand to be corrected.

What a load of Tosh.
A proper tackle by a proper centre-half and I hope his injury is not too bad.
BTW that was about the only tackle Hunt made all game-he really has gone off since the club upped his wages.

My view was that it was an odds on ball for Hunt but somehow Dunne got there before him, quickly and firmly, borderline a foul but he got there first. So I was a bit aggrieved initially, but when he went down later it was clear he'd hurt himself in his earlier challenge and I was actually quite pleased to see him go off. I've always rated him, so when he went off I really thought we had a chance to win the game.

Didn't really see the incident where he got injured but there was nothing made of any challenge by players or fans so for someone to suggest otherwise seems, at best, partisan in the extreme or at worst, plain stupidity.

Dunne is a hugely under-rated player. Glad it's not a serious injury and I hope he's playing again soon.

Get well to the fellah

And a big-up (despite the traditional Sh1t On The Floor song being heralded from the E stand) to the majority of the Madstad who applauded as he got stretchered off.

No impressed with the stretcher lot, stealing the funky buggy's glory (which itself got an ovation from some in Y21/21)

I'm in absolute shock that this is being taken so wrongly by so many.

It wasn't anywhere near a challenge, let alone a 50/50 one! Dunne 100% clattered into Hunt and probably a little too aggresively and not far off from a foul in my opinion.

Hunt was simply running with the ball totally innocently and Dunne came in on him HARD.

I'm surprised Hunt wasn't injured. No foul play at all, but if anyone is going to be accused of a foul it'd be Dunne for an extremely hard challenge on a player running full pelt.

Not even sure I can say Dunne didn't deserve it.

Glad he's ok though - just a gash.

Was going to add something after reading first few posts but 2ww 1wc has it spot on.
This was right in front of me, I heard the crunch and I was expecting Hunt to be injured. It was a very physical tackle, designed to hit the player hard. Nothing wrong with that but don't blame anyone else - it was Dunne's doing

I was waiting for Bikey to run the length of the pitch to push one of them over.... I think Ivar had a close eye on him though.

indeed especially as the initial challenge wasnt the one that he was stretchered off for....I also liked the corluka (sic?) "miss" that was actually flagged as offside that was left in as a genuine chance...

Alan Partridge
Dirk Gently Let's not forget that a keeper should never let himself get beaten at his near post - and Hart did twice.

That's incredibly harsh!! Absolutely no chance with the 1st and wasn't at fault for the 2nd IMO.

Don't know - I'd question his positioning for both goals. I'll retract it if I think I need to after MOTD ....

Nope - I think Hart's positioning was pretty poor for both gaols. Doesn't take away from the quality of the finish though, but the second especially was an invitation for Kits to roll it past him.

I agree, I saw a large gap open up between the sticks, which Kit's exploited to the full.

The only reason you think that, and the only reason why there is discussion about this tackle is the way football has changed. As others have said, its fast becoming a non-contact sport, with automatic red cards for both feet off-the-ground challenges. It's a shame, because I think todays challenge was fine and exactly the thing I want to see more off. 100% effort, no diving, no wimping out, no complaints over someone going in too hard.
