Pompey beat Fulham comfortably while we struggle to beat Derby (which we will need to do as Brum are beating Blackburn). However we squeak a win deep into stoppage time with Lita scoring following a messy goalmouth scramble sparking scenes of wild delirium and another season of expensive mediocrity.

Portsmouth 3-0 Fulham - Fulham freeze

Birmingham 2-1 Blackburn

Derby 0-2 Reading
(Kitson 85, Lita 90+2)

Closing titles on MOTD show Madejski hugging a five foot inflatable Spongebob giving a big thumbs up.

Derby 0 Reading 0
Pompey 1 Fulham 1....so Fulham stay up on just 34 points. We had reached 22 points pre Christmas. It should not have come to this

We have been all season thanks very much and we will all be supporting them next week but our abysmal form does not make many of us that hopeful. I thought we would win yesterday and yet again we were well and truely second best.

Derby 1 Reading 3

Portsmouth 2 Fulham 1

We are safe and the loyal 3,000 roylas will be going mad. T

To be honest though if we cant beat the worst ever team in the league we dont diserve to play PL football.

Agreed. The worrying thing is where will the goals come from?

Derby 1 - 0 Reading

Reading fall apart as Fulham lose 3-0. Ruin their chances and Birmingham stay up after beating Blackburn.

Derby 1-2 Reading

Miller for the Rams, Lita and Hunt on the scoresheet for us Royals.

WE stay up, as Pompey scrape past Fulham 2-1, and Blackburn draw 2-2 at Birmingham.

Royal Lady Scenario 1

Derby 0 - Reading 1
Mateovsky.

Reading fans don't know whether to clap or boo depending on other results coming in,- then discover we're still down. They burst their inflatables and fight with each other. I shall cry.

Journey home - in silence sat in back of car, with Schards and his brother either not talking the whole journey home or non-stop moaning from them, plus shouting at the phone-in on 606 or whatever happens to be on. I consume the bottle of wine I've hidden down the back of the seat.

Scenario 2

Derby 0 - Reading 1 (Mateovsky)
Reading fans don't know whether to clap or boo depending on other results coming in - then discover we're staying up. They go mental - everyone hugs everyone else - Floyd shouts "get in!" AP fondly calls Pride Park "a cauldron of optimism for Reading fans". We drive home euphoric but after about half an hour, Schards and his brother decide who's going to leave and who we can bring in. They shout at the phone-in on 606. I consume the bottle of wine I've hidden down the back of the seat.

Post of the day! (Even with Matejovsky losing his 'j' in either scenario). I will be on pins and needles all week. It's been an emotional season. No matter what happens I will be relieved come Monday.

My prediction:
Reading 1 - Derby 1

Our fate rests in the hands of Harry Redknapp and I now slightly regret putting him on my 'Death Pool' list. (Only slightly).

i have a sneaky feeling it the portsmouth game will be more of an issue than ours.

Just the man you want to ensure football's integrity is upheld, I can sleep safe in the knowledge that Portsmouth won't, as he cunningly said, put out a 'very very very weak team', leaving the way for them to put out a merely very, very weak team.

Can't blame him though, if he wants to protect his players for the cup final he has the right to put out the under 16s and we won't be able to blame him for a season of complete ineptitude mixed with occasional good results.

with Harry having been there himself in the past, i have faith that he will bring some integrity to this situation and play a "strong" side maybe not his strongest but definitely a "strong" side!

I still feel, with as poor as they've been of late, they'd be well-advised to get some momentum going into the cup and actually compete next week. Maybe it's wishful thinking.

We beat Derby one nil after Doyle bundles the ball into the net on the 74th minute and Portsmouth equalize on the 85th minute with a Defoe wonder goal.
