1 goal from Portsmouth on the right day would have been enough.

PieEater Harper could have squared it to Lita instead of shooting, the ref could have given that pen for handball, and Murty could of got his 'effin shot on target

yes, and Derby could have taken their keeper off and replaced him with a midfielder

All these "what ifs" show how all the hysterical attention paid to referees is truly ridiculous. There must have been at least one completely ridiculous ref's decsion in any game involving the bottom 6 that you could say: "sent us down". And Chelsea could say the same about coming second. But most people would agree that Man U deserved to win the league. And the league , places 1-20, looks about right.

But it also shows that if we'd really gone for it when we were one, two or even three goals down instead of giving up and taking the loss, we could have stayed up.

If Shane Long had not triued to be a flash git at Birmingham that one goal would have kept us up.

If Stephen Hunt hadn't completely missed the ball v Blackburn we would have stayed up.

Do any of the posters on this thread know what you call a constipated Victorian detective?

If Archie had scored that penalty, none of this would have happened.

I don't think we can place any blame on the players for not getting 7 against Derby.

We could have improved on a few chances and gone a bit harder in the last 10 minutes, but then equally as fans once we heard the Fulham score we could have started chanting "we want 7", but we slumped.

Hard to expect the players to do more really.

What a gay thread

Won 4-0 and still asking whether could have pushed forward to get three extra goals as if the club wasn't aware of this.

What if's, could have, would have, should have. if's, but's, maybe's. rah rah rah.

At the end of the day the table, and the stats don't lie

We conceded the 2nd most goals in the League (even Watford last year didn't concede as much as us)

We lost the 2nd most amount of games (again Watford last year didn't lose as much)

We had the 2nd worst Goal difference

So we were 2nd in all these stats to the worst team ever to grace the Premiership

Yeah, IF only Liverpool weren't so mediocre they COULD have won something this season. Benitez SHOULD have played his best team in every game, in which case he probably WOULD have won something, BUT he's shit and they're bottle jobs. MAYBE they need a new manager.

The 7-4 and 7-3 defeats didn't help our goal difference much.... perhaps if we had shut up shop and played for a less heavy defeat it might have kept us up, perhaps not... who knows?

If were ahead on goal difference then maybe Fulham would have pushed harder and got a second?
