READING could lose four mainstays of their team following relegation.

Stephen Hunt, Nicky Shorey, Kevin Doyle and James Harper are summer targets for Premier League clubs.

Sunderland boss Roy Keane is a big admirer of Irish midfielder Hunt.

West Ham are eyeing left-back Shorey, while midfielder Harper and striker Doyle could attract attention.

Ibrahima Sonko and Emerse Fae, banned by the Royals for refusing to play for the reserves, also want out.

could?

What kind of journalism is this?

oh

Who would want harper?? I mean he's good for us, but the rest of the prem have a decent midfield... and doyle?? The striker that doesn't score (except against derby)

And also against Liverpool, Fulham and Blackburn.

Excellent reason to keep him. Derby are good enough to be mid-table if they can find some confidence and form. With investment they could manage top 10 probably. Of course if they can't or decimate their squad and don't get it right they'll sink further.

Loads of teams will want Doyle.

He showed last season that with service he can score goals. He showed this season, that with no service, like most strikers, his goals will dry up.

Stick him in a decent team and he'll score goals in the Premiership. There ain't many strikers out there, who are available at a half decent price, who you can say that about.

Lita - Big humvee
Long - Audi TT
Little - Merc
Shorey - Range Roiver
Coppell - Morris Minor (He's very loyal and won't replace it, even though it breaks down often)

PS - One of those is untrue.

Waiting outside the car park the other week with the boy ( getting autographs ) That Fae bloke drove in driving a huge black Bentley.I dont think he has played 90mins for us yet.....too much money.....never !
About players leaving...get shot of the weakest links Oster , Convey ,Fae and Sonks........dont let the fact that were back in the Champions League ( oops Ship ) make us think they will do better , give some young uns a chance to come through and anyone who does not want to stay and fight to get straight back up.........let them go. Shorey has clearly lost interest judging by his efforts over the last month.
Were only here for the year........Straight back up lads..

I remember when we failed to get up in 1995 we all thought we'd do it next year.

It didn't happen and we were eventually relegated...................

A cautionary reminder I believe I issued towards the start of this season! That was when us doomsters and gloomsters were warning of the dangers of not strengthening our squad and were rebutted by the eternal optimists who stated that even if we were proved right the club was well positioned to bounce straight back!

Whether history repeats itself could well come down to whether the business management side have learned their lessons from history and resist the temptation to sell off our best players, replace them with cut-price offerings, and generally instigating some pretty stringent cuts in the way the footballing side of the business was expected to operate.

A list of the clubs that Doyle has scored against over the three seasons he's been a Reading player. But of course, they must be phantom goals because he doesn't score does he?

Burnley (1), Coventry City (1), Crystal Palace (1), Ipswich Town (2), Hull City (1), Plymouth Argyle (1), Luton Town (3), Millwall (1), Leicester City (2), Derby County (4), Southampton (1), Cardiff City (1), Stoke City (1), Aston Villa (1), Sheffield United (1), Manchester United (1), Portsmouth (1), Tottenham Hotspur (1), Charlton Athletic (1), Fulham(2), Bolton Wanderers (3), West Ham United (2), Blackburn Rovers (3), and Liverpool (1).

37 league goals in total over 103 starting appearances and 10 sub appearances. A goals to game ratio of ever so slightly under 1 in 3.
