Only one Trevor Morley Does anyone know when the 5 yellow cards and a suspension rule is reset - ie Armstrong and Doyule both have 4 yellow cards but I'm sure that these are wiped shortly in terms of getting a suspension?

Out of interest, does anyone know how many of Doyle's yellow cards are for goal celebrations ?

At least 2 IIRC.

Interestingly enough - and I couldn't see this anywhere else so forgive me if it's a Dodd - I found this on the FA website:

Thursday 22 January 2009

Kevin Dillon, Reading FC
Swansea City FC v Reading FC
Football League Championship, 17 January 2009

Charge: FA Rule E3 – improper conduct

Dillon has until 5 February to respond.

I don't remember seeing Dillon doing anything stupid (but it had been a lot day on the sauce) - any ideas what this is for?

Looking through the HNA match reports, Doyle's bookings this season:

Doncaster (H) - booked for removing his shirt celebrating a goal
Bristol City (A) - no match report on here
Southampton (A) - booked for a foul

and one more that I can't find.

The 5 yellows to get a one game ban is extended at the end of February, think at that point it becomes 7 yellows before getting a ban

Re: Dillon he got into a strop over something towards the end of the game at Swansea that led to the ref asking him to remove himself to the stands. I presume he was having a go at the 4th official about a decision or something (or perhaps hurling abuse at Rosenior as he went off :D )

The Bristol City yellow was for a goal celebration - if you recall, Coppell was unhappy because he said the pitch sloped away and Doyle was unable to stop himself. So it's three out of the four.

PS Barry the bird boggler is so mind-blowingly out-of-date over his yellow card rules that he probably thinks it's still two points for a win.

Dirk Gently But perhaps our game plan is to only play him for 60 or so minutes - so he can be flat-out for all of that time and then be knackered. With two strikers on the bench that's fine - why pace himself for 90 minutes if he knows he's only going to play 70 or so?

One argument could be that if you get a chance after 69 minutes and are knackered you may well screw up whereas if you'd paced yourself you'd have an extra half yard to make sure.

Indeed. But the other side of the coin is that because you're pacing yourself you might not go on a run which leads to a goal - like the one right at the start where chasing down a lost cause made our goal.

The real answer is to knacker yourself playing for 60 minutes and get substituted immediately at that point - not have the limbo of 10 minutes playing with a striker who has clearly run himself into the ground.

Which game was his fourth booking (and third for taking his shirt off)?

Rossy is likely to come in at QPR even thought I thought Kelly did a decent job. Pearce will keep his place.

I think I may have worked out why Doyle's goals have dried up a bit. He's deliberately avoiding getting to 20 until Marchso he can take his shirt off and run into the crowd.
