floyd__streete LOL @ the jubilation on this thread. So we're guaranteed at least a tear-drenched, face-paint smeared play-off disaster then?

Snowball Such a shame that incredible team BRISTOL lost to a side in FIFTEENTH place (quality!)

Hold on, aren't you the formguide goon currently boring the pants off us on almost every other thread? Have you seen Doncaster's recent form? For those of you who think we have promotion stitched up (the same goons who had the bunting out when we were 6 points clear with 6 to play last season), we actually have to play those games in hand; one of which is an unappetising midweek trip to Donny, another of those good footballing sides we struggle so badly against :|

I don`t find the prospect of a midweek trip to Donny too unappetising Floyd as I have been recommended towards a very good pub.

Kev in Bracknell Yes, the Championship is ours if we can stop being average for the rest of the season. But how would we manage if, god forbid, our top goal scorer was out injured for all or a lot of the remainder of the season? Could we still maintain the push with the squad we've got? Personally, I think they'd be a massive hole & we'd really struggle unless...

We're better placed to cope than most teams, what with having our second top scorer on 10 and our third top scorer on 8 !

Not many others have that depth.

Let's be honest, if just about any team lost their top scorer for the rest of the season they would have a major problem.

Kevin Philips out for 3 weeks with a hamstring tear - should miss Birmingham's games with:

Coventry (a) - Sat 21/02
Palace (a) - Tue 24/02
Sheff Utd (a) - Sun 01/03

and maybe

Bristol City (h) - Wed 04/03

Where are all their late goals going to come from?

Perversely i reckon a couple of injuries might do them some good. They might be forced to actually settle on a side as opposed to the constant chopping and changing.

A Hammy tear will be more than 3 weeks IMHO

Not according to Alex McLeish:

BBC Sport Birmingham City's leading scorer Kevin Phillips has been ruled out for up to three weeks after a slight tear was detected in his hamstring.

Phillips, 35, was forced off by the injury during the 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest over the weekend.

"The scan revealed it was a very small tear," Blues boss Alex McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.

"As such they've said it was a Grade One tear, which is two or three weeks out - Kevin says he's a quick healer."

Losing the 13-goal Phillips is another blow for the Championship promotion chasers after the long-term injuries suffered by Garry O'Connor (groin) and James McFadden (knee).

"It's unfortunate we have these strikers injured, but that's why we signed a few," McLeish noted.

The former Rangers and Scotland boss now has Cameron Jerome, Marcus Bent and new signing Carlos Costly as his main strike options, while Hameur Bouazza and Scott Sinclair can also play through the middle.

Gary McSheffrey could yet return to McLeish's plans after coming through a behind-closed-doors friendly against Chesterfield.

The former Coventry winger has been linked with several clubs for a possible loan move for the remainder of the season

T.R.O.L.I. Change the record, Ian. You're developing a Spaceyesque obsession with regards to Snowball.

There's nothing like a nice little rant to relieve some stress. And snowball is an easy target. I'm TRYING not to argue with him as much though. I just need to ween myself off by sniping from the sidelines for a little while. I just can't take going cold turkey.

It's not like I'm referring to him as Gayball or anything.

he is from Newbury though so is definitely an inbred like the rest of us :-)
