Royal Lady Pretty rubbish idea all round I'd say. We didn't celebrate American Independence Day on July 4 by having a tea party down at the club car park for a start.

No, instead you had a bloody demonstration in the car park to keep Steve sodding Coppell

Toon Toon Blue army
AndyRFC What a load of DUMP. Any Englishman should be ashamed to even consider anything to do with being Irish, even for a day.

Why should they be ashamed? Keep politics out of football. St Patricks day is only a bit of fun, jesus.

Surely that should be, bejesus? :|

If it wasn't for the Irish, we'd be bottom or something.
So it's only right and fair for the plastics to become Plastic Paddies for the evening.
Begorrah!

Complaining about St Patrick's day is a bit on the lame side, isn't it? Let the fun folk enjoy it if they want to, there's no need to trot out the same old tripe about St George and Guinness or whatever year after year after year....

Whilst I agree with the latter part of what you said, we always get the same old tripe about 'we should celebrate St Patricks day'. People would bring out the same tripe year after year if Irish people didn't think we owed them some sort of gratitude because of the Irish players RFC have.

THIS IS ENGLAND, Reading FC ISN'T an Irish club. We don't get Iclandic, US, Czech people coming on here trying to make us celebrate their national day, so why should we make exception for the Irish?

The Club and STAR feel that if it wasn't for the Irish players, this 'English' club would be royally phucked.
I guess they're right, how many goals have been scored by Englishmen this season?
Not many.
Because of this it's only correct that the appropriate gratitude should be given to them.
Perhaps more than once a year though.

This is Reading, we still get Chelsea fans coming on here telling us how to support our club !

And Reading is a town full of people of Irish descent. Personally I'm not going to dress up as a leprechaun but I hope the idea works, if only to annoy the po faced .....

Yes, and who was it who killed those British soldiers this week?

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Irish people celebrating their national day. Far from it. I just don't see the need for them to try and ram it down the throats of and ENGLISH football team.

..............black armbands in memory of the 2 soldiers and the policeman murdered by the IRA last week?

Just a thought.

Why stop there? Let's just play our home games in Ireland

This whole idea can get fvcked as can STAR

It would be nice if we had more threads like this around St George's Day. Sadly we do not...

Although of course no one is doing that....

And what it has to do with the murders in Northern Ireland escapes me.... daft attempt to appear 'political' by Kes there.

When he was about sixteen, Patrick was captured by Irish raiders and taken from his native Wales as a slave to Ireland.

They haven't changed much.
