Can't we still be caught if we lose 3-0 and 4-0 and Swansea win their two games 5-0 each?

If you want to talk crzy talk then what about if we lose 5-0 twice and Preston win 5-0 and 6-0.

Stranger things have happened. And those fucktards on Reading World said play offs were a mathmatical certainty.

hughsies no.1 yeah probably because most royals seem to have a bit of a short memory. either that or there first season ticket was purchased in our first season in the prem where we nearly got the uefa cup. expectation levels are so ridiculously high and a lot of people expected us to walk this league. yeah it aint been right since Christmas but thats football and where not going to win every game. we now have the opportunity to get into one of the most exciting 'little tournaments' in the world. i aint the oldest supporter but i remember witnessing various disappointing moments such as loosing to walsall at cardiff and that was gutting, just managing to get a play off is not gutting. its dissapointing we havent pushed on since christmas but thats life. a lot of royals need a reality check!!!

Well I supported Reading since 93/94 season and i think yer expectations are higher now than ever but then I dont think it was really too much to ask us to walk this league seeing the squad we have and the absolute dire quality of the other teams around us. Lets be honest has anyone seen a decent team this season?

Don't understand all the negativity on other threads. We hav been poor and arent gettin automatic place but wat does that matter when we get a day out at the new wembley with reading if we get to final?! Much more exiting end of the season!

Whatever happens now we are in line for a thrilling finale.

Whether thats 90 minutes of cup final football against Birmingham or 180 minutes of sudden death action in the Play-off semi-finals and hopefully a 90 minutes of do or die football at the New Wembley. Either way, we are in for a roller coaster ride of a finish. It's gonna be emotional, passionate and pretty crazy.

Its these 1 off games that football is all about. It's those 1 off games that create all the fond football memories. Some crazy nail biting action against the Brum on the final day could live in our memories till we're old.

A last minute winner at the new Wembley..........

I hope the moaners will just relax and enjoy the finish instead of getting too worked up about Coppells team selections and his management of the club which has until now been absolutely outstanding.

We finished 2nd on 78 points back in 95. This time we could reach 80 points. Let's hope we do it and Brum stay within our reach.

Good post Top Flight.

As for the original thread the point is a reasonable one. We might well win the playoffs. We know what we're like in big games especially when not expected to win.

Deep down I'm sure no-one in their right mind is expecting anything other than us getting slaughtered in the playoffs. Marry that with football being a funny old game and us traditionally doing very well in "big" games we're not expected to win and you just never know.

We might well win the thing.

And a good finish (starting with last night's win) will be enough to instill just enough self belief but not too much cockiness to spoil our giantkiller tradition.

God knows we arguably deserved victory in all our previous failed playoff attemps but didn't get it. Now that we don't deserve it in the slightest perhaps we can do something.

Stranger things have definitely happened.

Assuming we did get in the play offs and through to the final, I don't know if I can handle another loss in the final - I'll cry for a week.

We wont be in the play offs!
Preston will beat Birmingham Saturday, we beat Norwich Monday, then beat Brum at home last game of the season, we go up on goal difference!

Reading really need to win their remaining games to take momentum into the play offs.

What a difference a win seems to be making to the fans

by rhroyal » 22 Apr 2009 12:32

If Birmingham lose against Preston and Sheff Utd don't beat Swansea we go into the Norwich match knowing that 2 wins will guarantee us promotion. I personally don't think this will happen. However, if last night has changed the mood on here, just think how the squad and the management may be feeling. If we can keep that up and go into the play-offs with hope, confidence and positivity we will be so much more likely to win them than we were just 24 hours ago.

pressures off the lads now
were in the play offs, and probably out of the automatic spots so we wont be fretting so much, and can relax and play a bit

hopefully

A bit of form 2 months ago and we'd be promoted already.

2 world wars, 1 world cup Deep down I'm sure no-one in their right mind is expecting anything other than us getting slaughtered in the playoffs.

You are joking?

We may not be in the best form at the moment, but when have we been slaughtered by anyone this season?

We are still a good side, and all this bollocks about us having no chance in the play-offs is just crap made up by pessimistic moaning 'fans'.

This is a team that still has the best GD in the division, despite only winning 4 in the last 18 matches, and has only lost one away game in the league since October.

So I very much doubt anyone but the usual pessimistics (Deathy, Royalee et al) will be predicting anything but tough, but winnable, matches.
