IMAMATEOFJOVSKY So who was Coppell firing the bullets at in his interview ??- saying that some players were treating the ball like a hot potato and basically didnt want it .....guess we will know when he picks team for play off game on Saturday but surely Kebbe and Gypo Hunt have to be the first two on the list...Little on crutches would have been better than both of them yesterday!

Kebe can at best turn defenders inside out and (witness Norwich) can even put in a few decent balls. Against Brum, though he had lost all confidence. At one point in the second half he received the ball just outside the penalty area, but with no defender near. He could have controlled the ball, steamed into the box and set up mayhem. What did he do? Punted it in before he had it under control and skied it ionto the crowd. That's hot potato form for you.

A question though: if Kebe can set up Long twice with perfect centres at Norwich he should have felt on fire. And yet he didn't. Why not? Is there a management issue here? Likewise Long - two well judged positions at Norwich to score twice, then against Brum made no move at least twice to reach perfect balls across the face of the goal. Where had his confidence gone?

If not a management issue, maybe a crowd issue. Players must read this site and those two have had far more criticism than they deserve. Perhaps they have become a bit scared at home because of the way the crowd gets at them. Top class at Norwich, bottom of the class six days later. If we could scrape through to Wembley we might see the away form back.

Interesting idea 1960 but I think the greater factor is that at Norwich we were playing a poor side who can't defend very well. On Sunday we were playing against the side with the best defensive record in the league.

Don't also forget that although Kebe put in those two very good crosses (or random balls in to the danger area as you could call them) he still didn't have the best of games overall. He might get a couple of decent balls into the box but he still fluffed it more often than not. You can't rely on that kind of player to then pull it out of the bag when it really matters and the pressure is on.

Don't also forget that at Norwich Kebe was playing in what we're led to believe is his favoured position on the left. Against Birmingham he spent the majority of the game on the right.

That is quite right - he moved from his preferred left side position to accommodate the useless gypsy who had been crap on right but was equally crap when he went left! and as for the gypo's dead balls - god help us!!

Why the f*ck should anyone listen to your opinion on football when you're so completely boneheadedly thick that you can't put together a post without a racist insult in it?

F*ck off.

That Friday Feeling
Man Friday A colleague has just told me that Coppell said before the match in an interview on Sky that he didn't think we would win. Is this true? If so, it beggars belief.

He didn't think we'd go up Sunday.

Your colleague has the wrong end of the stick.

Yes, he thought that even if we won, Sheff Utd would also win.
Wrong on both counts.

Actually, on second thoughts, I think it was unwise to say publicly before the match that he didn't think we'd make the top two. In the back of the players' minds this could have impacted on the way they played...it certainly seemed to.

"Gypo" is a derogratory epithet for a recognised ethnic group. Using the term is racist whether you intended it to be or not. So don't do it.

And learn to use the quote function.

It's wrong on every level. It's wrong because its racist. And it's wrong because these are our players, and whatever we think of their ability, they want the same as us: victories and promotion. I hope they don't read the board. Or if they do, that they realise it's not the majority.

Negative_Jeff Most on Hob Nob have been right about our Leader`s failings this year.... In every Private`s knapsack lies a Field Marshall`s baton.
Sadly this has landed us with a trip to a God forsaken place to get home from on a Saturday evening. However I have noticed a cheap and cheerful late National Express coach that arrives back in London before breakfast. Get in!
