i am not sure why everyone wants curbs, he is a good manager but it will be a step back, he is not the right man for a team in need of rebuilding.

the conference will be coppell thanking everyone for not making the effort in the car park so he can finally have a long summer off playing golf

I really think its going to be one similar to the appointment of a new manager with chairman thanking Steve etc but i really can't see a new gaffer by tomorrow, same with a new signing

Royal_Belly I don't think this is a press conference to announce a new manager - I think this is a way for Steve to say goodbye properly. Remember all the who-ha surrounding the press conference to announce that he was staying on as manager?! Plus it will give the chairman more air time on the TV won't it!

If only it wasn't the case.

Who knows, maybe one after one the players will enter the conference and apologise for letting everyone down

TBM
Deathy I would love it to be Curbs, but just can't see him coming to us. Hope so, but...

So why come to the last 5 Reading games? - he has no ties with the club and its not as if we've been playing lovely football.......turning up for 1 or 2 games then fair enough he's just watching football BUT turning up to the last 5 games, hmmmm, he's obviously interested!?

Has he though? Can anyone confirm this?

Be great if it he was the new manager.

Well, now is exactly the right time to announce a new manager. The planning for next season starts immediately, yes, the players have time off, but the club needs to know where it's going financially and what resources the new manager will need/want to work with. There is a massive amount of planning to do before next season starts - I'm guessing we'll want to trim the squad size a bit. It would be unhealthly to have a long period with nobody in charge. I wouldn't be surprised if a new manager is announced tomorrow.

I dont have a problem with Curbs. Did well at Charlton on a budget which is, after all, the SJM way.

Is God retiring?

I think Coppell would do a good job.

After all he has all the right credentials: performing miracles, doing incredible good, but nevertheless having a few ungrateful blinkered morons.

I agree with Dirk.

Reading have previously held PC's just to confirm a player signing a 1 year extension, so I think this will be either a full and frank statement as to his departure (although we already know why) or at a long shot a capacity for Steve upstairs.

A new manager will not be announced for another week or so unless an internal appointment will be made. It could also be to highlight which of the backroom staff will be leaving with SSC.

For example the sacking of Wally Downes - reported already by external sources mind!

I like the idea of Sir Steve becoming Director of Football.

Wasn't Hammond approached by Arsenal last year, perhaps he could be off?

Not sure a new Manager would like Steve hanging around though.
